My son's first teacher requested that the kids pick one well-known African American that has changed history to do a project on for Black History month. Could we have chosen MLK, Rosa Parks, Obama, Malcolm X? Yes, we could have. We wanted to go a different route, do something new. My son immediately loved the idea of doing a project about Muhammad Ali as soon as I told him that Mr. Ali decided to learn how to fight when someone stole his bike, and went on to become the GREATEST boxer in the world. Mind you, this book is a bit advanced for first graders. The reading level is for about third grade. But all the other children's books on Muhammad Ali seemed too basic and my son is in the gifted class. This one was just right, with nice pictures and lots of facts to really give meat to the project.

Bought this for my daughter in the fourth grade who was doing a report on Ali. Good useful information. She enjoyed it.
