Getting to Know the World's Greatest Artists, Norman Rockwell is a nice edition in this fantastic collection by Mike Venezia. These books are perfect for exposing elementary and junior high aged students to a large variety of artists and styles of art. I was surprised how little information was present in this book compared to some of the others in the series; especially since Rockwell is a more recent artist.

My Mother purchased some of this series when I was a child. Now that I have children I am starting to buy them the rest. The book is fairly short but tells about the artist (in this case Norman Rockwell). You learn about the artist, their style of painting, and different (sometimes humorous) parts to their life. Venezia's fun cartoon characters are enjoyable for children to see, and at the end of the book it lists where the paintings or works of art pictured are located.A fun, fast way to learn about those individuals who have shaped our history!

This series is well written, informative, accurate, and still has amusing sections. There's a comic describing the artist a few times throughout the book to keep kids interested. I teach an art class for k thru 2nd, but I think it's based more for 3rd thru 8th. However it still works for me. My son is in 10th grade and learns from them, too.

I have used Mike Venezia's Worlds Greatest Artist series for the past 5 years teaching the masters to grade school children. These books are relatable to children and informative! They are a great addition to any classroom or instructors library.

Beautiful artwork reproductions, humorous illustrations, informative text meant to teach about the artist and his work, this series of "Getting to Know" books has been a great resource. Great for any classroom or home library.

Mike Venezia captures a child's interest with his creative style and amusing illustrations in these wonderful books that tells the story of a particular artists life. Written so that a child is engaged and will return to read the story again and again. I've have purchased several of Mr Venezias books and am never disappointed. Well done.

This is a great series for children to explore any and all of the artists in the series. The comics keep the children engaged, and there's always some tidbit that the children enjoy learning about the particular artist...something they'll always remember and talk about. Great introduction to well-known artists.
