I bought this book to share with my middle school students when learning about Medieval Europe and illuminated manuscripts. Most letters include 2 different samples. Some only have 1. Letters I, J, K, Q, and X did not have letter samples that appealed to me. The others were beautiful and showed a variety of features of medieval life. Beautiful drawings.
I was surfing the web one day and I came across Illuminated Artwork.This is the artwork Monks would drawn in their holy text back in the dayswhen monks wrote out entire books. Back then there was no presses.I wanted to view the artwork closer and this book has many fine examples of that. Very pleased with the book.
Great selections make this adult coloring book a great choice for those participating in our newest book craze - adult coloring books. Terrific for therapeutic purposes! I find it great to listen to Gregorian Chant while spending some relaxing time coloring and imagining a much less stressful time - well, provided you didn't have plague, famine, cold weather, etc. Hmm. Actually, much better to color today than back then.
The lines don't meet up & any kind of interrupted line is different on either side of the interruption. Many of the illustrations are frankly boring or repetitive besides. I'm already so frustrated with it that I plan to give it to my nephew as soon as he's old enough to hold a crayon.
This is an Excellent Book filled with Iconic Graphics matching closely to the Cover Graphics,Makes for lots of Fun Recreating these Graphics Freehand.
Love the designs but how about heavier paper.
