My daughter is enjoying this immensely. We do it as a bedtime activity. I read the captions about the author and then we look for the differences. She is only 6 but really enjoys it already. It is a good introduction to various artists and art periods. It is even a good stepping stone to explore what people wore, ate, or played with in other time periods. We are about to purchase the second one because we have enjoyed this one so much.
This book features works by many well known artists. In addition to finding the differences between the pictures, the book offers interesting facts about the artists and paintings. It is a decent book for children (maybe grades 3-6), especially those who are interested in art. However, as far a "find the differences" type book, I think it is a little costly. This book only contains 25 puzzles; many others, such as Life's Picture Puzzles (aimed more at adults), contain 2-3 times the number of puzzles and can actually cost less with 's discount.
If someone you know is an art lover and having memory problems, this little book just might be one of the best activities around. We have had great success in using it. Spotting and circling the differences from one famous masterpiece to the knock-off on the facing page is a great brain exercise, and the results extend to other activities in the aftermath. The artwork is also terrific conversation starters and memory makers. Highly recommended.
"Spot the Difference" books were on a wish-list from a local Dementia Day Care. This book is on a level based for young children yet not child-ISH ~ very important. I thumbed through the book before delivering it and want to get another for our first-grade daughter because the pictures are so pretty...and art-educational :)Highly recommend...
Bought it for my elderly dad... but looked at it before sending it to him (wishing I'd gotten it for myself). The images are big and really interesting to look at. My 89 year old father was able to look at the images fine.It is separated by difficulty level. Fun!
This art book is wonderful. It teaches young people about art and makes it fun and exciting to pay close attention to the paintings. I was as involved in the book as my daughter.I read from other reviews that this series was recommended for the patients with dementia and adults with some memory loss. It is really a great art activity book for all ages !
Excellent print and very good selection of paintings. Playful introduction in art. I would recommend -and not only for children.
I have two of the books in this series and my 13 yo son likes to look through them. Oops, fun AND counts as "art". WIN.
