Targeted at grade-schoolers, this book from National Geographic provides a beautifully illustrated overview of the life and works of the famous Renaissance Man. The book includes numerous photos and reprints of Da Vinci's most famous works, and well as reproductions of some of his designs. While he's most famous for The Mona Lisa and The Last Supper, Da Vinci, in fact, only completed a few paintings during his lifetime, magnificent though they may be. Da Vinci painted, sculpted, created sets for plays, and designed numerous machines for war.The book is well-written, and is designed and laid out beautifully. The amazing imagery used in the book makes for a great way to introduce Leonardo and the Renaissance.
I read these National Geographic history books with my 4th grade son in the evenings. The pictures are great, the text is well written, informative, and we both learn something without it being ... dry. It is especially fun to talk about when the greats lived in relation to each other and other historical events.
I'VE BEEN EXPLORING MY ARTISTIC SIDE AS OF LATE AND A LITTLE INSITE INTO HOW MASTERS LIKE LEONARDO DA VINCI LOOKED AT THEIR CRAFT REALLY HELP ME TO LOOK FOR THE SAME TRATES IN MYSELF. THIS BOOK IS GREAT FOR ANYONE WHO NEEDS TO SEE THE WORLD THROUGH THE EYES OF A MASTER AND SEE HOW IT LOOKS TO HIM. GREAT BOOK
This is a wonderful children's book with beautiful illustrations and excellent writing. Adults will enjoy it as well.
Simple, elementary, and useful for basic biographical facts.
