My elementary aged children really, really enjoyed this coloring book! Each page took my 1st and 3rd grader about 30 minutes to color. Regular markers work great, and the pages look really lovely with the light coming through.Issues:The pages are really thin though, and tear easily. A couple of ours have already torn, and I had to laminate them, which works really well, and makes them durable for hanging in the window.Almost all of the pages come from the Book of Kells, which are really beautiful, but are religious (saints, angels, etc), so if that isn't your thing, there are only maybe 2 other pages that look like the one shown on the front cover.
These Dover coloring books are exceptionally nice. My students at school love to color these. They can earn a page and coloring time to complete. My windows at school look great as we hang the finished products.
It doesn't matter which STAINED GLASS COLORING BOOKS you purchase from DOVER PUBLICATIONS...They are worth every penny....Beautifully rendered on delicate see through paper, each drawing allows you to use whatever medium you desire...whether it is colored pencils, markers, etc....You can even color on both sides of the drawing to give the picture a more textured look!! LOVE EVERY ONE I HAVE GOTTEN SO FAR & SO WILL YOU!! Preferred mediums used are: CRAYOLA, MARCO RAFFINE, & PRISMACOLOR Colored Pencils, STABILO, STAEDTLER, & SHARPIE Colored Markers, Gel ink pens (Glitter, Metallic, and Neon)..If you are a bit heavy handed like me, use the markers gently....They will render the true pigment if you go over the area twice....Also, allow the gel pens to dry before closing the book. If you are left handed like me, you need to be careful where you lay your hand. The markers and gel pens WILL rub off onto your hand and onto the drawing...You can easily color over it, this is just a small forewarning....
This is a cool book of Really neat designs. I was at first sad that they were such simple designs (and not on regular paper) but there are many, many wasy to color them and they become more complicated further into the book. I eventually gave mine to a teacher at my school but I still reccomend this book to anyone who likes usuing sharpies or paints.
beautiful pictures to color, i was a little disappointed at the size of the book, but since i have began coloring it i am thrilled :)i love how it allowes my mind to focus on something other than constant thought! will be recommeding this book to others!
I bought this book on a whim. I was in the mood for something different. Land sake's this is different for me, but for the most part I enjoy it. Some of the patterns I don't care for, but that happens with most of my pattern books. It is an interesting change of pace. Give it a try.
These are intricate designs for older children and adults. This book is full of beautiful designs just waiting to be awakened by your choice of colors. Great for creativity.
Nice pictures, too many of similar designs, but still fun. I took the advice from other reviews and scanned the pages so I can redo pictures in different color schemes.
