I really like the cutesy art style of this book. And our 3-year old daughter never wanted to watch Wreck-It Ralph, but she leafed through this book and then started asking us about the movie. Now she loves the movie. All these Golden Books are really nice.
This book is meant to be a summary of the movie. I get that, but they complete left off all mention of Hero's Duty and anything related to that game. They also didn't mention turbo. If you've seen the movie, you'll know that without those parts, this story doesn't end the same way and this book feels like a different story.The book's version of the story is still cute, but without those aspects of the movie, it's a little bit harder to like the characters.
My 3-year-old loves this movie and received this book for Christmas. He loves to look at it and tell us the story. The nice thing about this book is that they've tailored it to preschoolers by taking out the scary bits about the cybugs. My son is sad that "Sir" (as he calls her) is not in this book, but it doesn't have any potentially scary pictures in it. Since he looks at this book while he's in bed at night, that's a good thing for him. Overall, I'd recommend it for preschoolers. Older kids would probably like a different version better, though.
This is one of my favorite Disney movies of all time, right up there with The Lion King and Cinderella for me! Little Golden Books were a big part of my childhood, so I'm happy that I can buy these for my baby girl to grow up with too. This book skips a few plot points when compared to the movie, like King Candy and Turbo, but the overall story is there about friendship. The illustrations are colorful and fun, and there's quite a bit to read on each page when compared to other starter books. So while this is way advanced for my 1 1/2 year old right now, it's still a nice addition to her collection and I'm sure she'll be reading it in no time!
My kids LOVED the movie, LOVE the Wii Video game, and LOVE this book. It follows the story just as it is told in the movie (a little shorter of course). The pictures aren't exact duplicates of pictures in the movie, but it is obvious which character is which, and which game they are in. Not for a beginning reader, at least a 1st to 2nd grade reader, or great for an adult to read to the kids.
This book is perfect for my son! He absolutely loved the movie and this book highlights all the important parts of the movie. So he remembered everything! I had Little Golden Books as a child so to be able to buy my son those books to read that are based on the movies he has seen is wonderful. I love seeing his excitement when he turns the pages!
My 3 year old LOVES Wreck-It-Ralph and especially Vanellope. This book is adorable and has a cute story line. It is of great quality like all other Golden Books. We have to be careful he doesn't rip it since the pages are paper and he gets overly excited to read it sometimes, but it definitely is a recommended book for any little one.
I don't have to read the story to know that Golden Books has let their production value fall. I've been in love with the Golden Books since I was a child and have some that are more than 40 years old. Unfortunately, Wreck It Ralph has arrived and the trim or size of the pages don't fit inside the cover :( So pages arrived more tattered than I'd expect of a brand new book, not on 's part but the manfacturer. I bought one other Golden Book and I hope it's in better condition.
