I teach Kindergarten in a high poverty area. This book really got my Kindergartners excited to read. They were very anxious to sound out each word to read the story about their favorite characters. Books with the simple language and easy to sound out words are difficult to find. This book fit my needs as a simple reader for my kids and it fit my kids needs for a high interest book.
This is actually the second time I'm buying this book because the first one is worn out from being used so much It's my son's favorite. He likes us to read it to him then he reads it to us.
My children can be particular about the books they are willing to read. One of my kids is a huge Cars fan, and selected Race Team as an early reader. The book has held their interest enough to keep them reading until all of the words were mastered.Race Team is a âReady to Readâ book and targeted to pre-K to Kindergarten readers. This book features âbig type and easy words, rhyme and rhythm, [and] picture clues.â It also tells a familiar story with the themes you'd expect from Cars: friendship and teamwork.Lightning McQueen is heading to a race and all of his car friends will help him prepare and travel to the race with him. This particular book does not contain rhyming words, but the pictures do provide clues. There are a few challenging words in Race Team, like âexcitedâ and âreporters,â that will leave your child with a great sense of accomplishment when she can read them. âKa-chow!âThe text in the book is large and easy to read. There are 8-10 words per page in this 32 page book.Race Team was illustrated by the Disney Storybook Artists and stays true to the characters and scenes in cars. Many of the illustrations will have a familiar feel to fans of the first Cars movie: Lightning surrounded by reporters, Doc wearing his headset, McQueen with his tongue sticking out. When you're learning to read, it's nice to have books you enjoy. Luckily my kids have a wide variety of interests, so I get to listen to Cars books in addition to Princess and Barbie books! This is a fine âlearn to readâ book for the Cars fan in your home.
i gave three of these 'cars' books to my son for christmas and he really enjoyed them. they have very little words, but very appropriate for my 2-1/2 year old. he's a big fan of the movie and the books were a great transition over for our nighttime readings.
That I know of, there are no Cars books available where Mack is on the cover and on many pages of the book. As Mack is my grandson's favorite Cars character, this makes this book his absolute favorite, because of the pictures. Not much plot. Not many words. Vibrant pictures. Truthfully, if it weren't my grandson's favorite book, I'd give it about 2 stars. I just don't feel like we should give a free pass to early readers. Early readers can and should be easy to read yet still interesting.
my son is obsessed with cars so i thought getting him a car book would get him interested in reading, it has worked like a charm. every night he wants me to read this book before going to sleep.i plan to purchase more from this series.
My 4 year old loves it so it was a great buy at a great price. He loves Cars and with this book it encourages him to actually focus on learning to read since he is truly interested in the subject matter.
Great for early reading. My child is just learning to read words and this book is perfect to help him gain confidence. Plus, he loves the movie Cars. There aren't too many words, but we were not looking for that right now. Just one sentence or so per page.
