We have almost every single construction book made for kids...and this is our new favorite! The pictures are great, but what I love most is how pleasant it is to READ. All of the rhymes work perfectly and are easy to read out loud. I can't stand when rhyming books don't really rhyme. This one is extremely well written! My 3 year old son wants to read it every day. The other very interesting thing that I love about this book is its use of "he" and "she." Half of the trucks are referred to as he...and the other half as SHE. This is the first kids construction book I've ever seen that assumes the trucks might be girls too. Its a subtle thing, but might be important for someone with a little girl who loves trucks...I liked this book so much that I've already ordered another one as a gift!
We have a lot of truck books in our library, but this is our new favorite! The variety of language is fantastic, and I love the cadence of the rhymes. There's an adorable puppy who appears in many of the beautiful illustrations, which makes it just about perfect in my three year olds opinion.
We love this book. We have several other books about vehicles, this covers all of them. My two year old son's favorite book. We read it several times a day, every day. Highly, highly recommend.
This has quickly become one of my favorite children's books of all time. Each page has a poem about a different truck, including snowplows, tow trucks, street sweepers, and fire trucks (to name a few). The poems are brilliant and I like to make up a song to go with each poem based on the truck and how I think its song might sound. Also, the illustrations are outstanding and their continuity is fun. The illustrations contain a theme of 3 kids and their dog imagining themselves as truck and machine operators while they play with their toy trucks.I'll leave you with my favorite excerpt about the bulldozer:"He's not a bully, either, although he's big and tough. He waits his turn, plays well with friends, and pushes just enough."
I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old grandson and he loves it. When we see the different trucks out side he explains what they do. I was fun to have him see a cherry picker in the parking lot of Home Depot and knew what it was. Not one of the usual trucks mentioned in books. It also was cute when he realized the dog was always in the trucks. This if a fun book and I would recommend it.
Being a parent, and former preschool teacher, I have read A LOT of books over the years! This book is SO fun to read (for adults and little ones alike!). Each construction vehicle has it's own story, so if you need to set this book down and come back to it later, you're not leaving the storyline midway⦠it's easy to put down and pick back up later. You can read this over and over again (as all of us who have, or have had, little ones, know we will do!) without losing interest. These playfully fun, rhyming stories will become favorites, and soon your toddler or preschooler will be "reading" along with you!
My grandsons, who are 3 & 4 love this book. It's an every night book request. The illustrations are interesting and accurate.
This colorful book is a fun read for children and adults ! I particularly love the illustrations and am planning to give copies to my grandchildren for Christmas!!
