I Love You Daddy is a wonderful story about a father encouraging his son to start doing things that he's now old enough to do. Little bear appreciates the encouragement and the praise he receives and tries to tell his father that he loves him. This is a wonderful book for children (especially in the 2 - 4 year old range) and helps remind them of all the things daddy does at a time when they might be focusing on mommy. It also encourages daddy to read at a time when he might be feeling a little bit unwanted. This is the third time I've purchased this book as it makes a memorable gift!
A great book for helping strengthen a relationship between a Daddy & his child. My daughter loved this book so much, this was actually our second purchase because we wore the other one out. I started reading it to her when she was 9 months old. She's 3 1/2 now and stil loves it!
This is a great addition to a family library. I love seeing my spouse read this to our little one. It is about the bond a son has with his father. It is about how a little one doesn't think they are big enough for the next step and a dad supporting him and helping him accomplish it. My little one brings it to us often. It is a great example of a supportive family environment.
My son asks for this and the companion book, "I love you, Mommy" most of all at bedtime. It teaches good lessons about listening to your parents and how a child's Daddy can encourage and motivate them do accomplish something they might not have thought possible, or were afraid of trying. It is also a great shot in the arm for Daddies themselves and a reminder that being a great parent means offering such support and love and just being there. That is what's most important for the readers; we started reading these two books to our son at only 9 months old and he loved it. It mirrored himself and he related to his parents nurturing him. He's now two and still asks for them more than any other book.We now ask him to tell the story to us and he really gets into it animating the little bear in his escapades and what the Daddy bear (or Mommy) is teaching. The artwork is very eye-catching and has a surprising amount of detail that will allow your child to gradually discover new things keeping the whole experience fresh for a long time.Highly recommended and believed to be important. Enjoy.
I purchased this book for my husband as a gift from our newborn son. It's a very sweet book and he has already read it several times to our baby. I wanted my husband to have something memorable on his first Father's Day and this was just the thing. I put paint on our son's feet and left footprints on the inside cover to make it even more special.
We've bought this book repeatedly. My son originally had it in hardcover and ripped one of the pages pretty badly when he was a few months old. We switched to the board book version, and it's been awesome.1) Teething. My kid loves to chomp on board books. He does end up eating some of the paper and that's less than ideal, but it really seems to soothe his teething pain more than his plastic and wood teethers.2) The actual story has good flow. The wording is slightly different ("Just be quick" v. "Don't be scared" when Daddy bear advises him about the bees) in this version compared to the full version and the ending is simpler (doesn't have the part about the den, if you're familiar). My son LOVES the bees in this book and does pretend bee stings whenever he sees them on the page. He also likes to mime patting himself on the head like Daddy Bear does to Little Bear in the story.
My son is 12 mos. and he is addicted to this book. He literally goes to the book basket and digs through to find this book and brings it to me. He must have it read to him no less than 6 times in a row or he whines and fusses, it is so funny. There are too many words on the page to get through for how fast he wants to turn the pages at his age, so I have developed a shorthand, which is easy to do with this book. I can see that this will be a favorite as he grows older though. Lots of great opportunities to introduce language to him, such as with the honey: "see them EAT the honey? num-nums!" or at the end, "Daddy puts little bear to BED, night-night!" My son does love books, and will sit through 30 mins- 1 hour of book time a day, so that may be unusual for a baby his age, but this book is truly a gem in his collection (and we have a LOT of books.) I am ordering the rest in this series because I just looked here on and saw that there is one for Mommy, Grandma, and Grandpa, and maybe that will help with having to read this one so many times in a row! The size of this board book is also perfect for his little hands and reading with him on my lap. Great book, I'd say my son's #1 favorite.
Cute book for Daddy to read to baby. We bought it for our 9 month old. The story is a little long for a baby but would probably work great for a toddler. We have a little wiggle worm of a baby and she can't sit still long enough for us to finish the story. We will definitely continue reading it to her as she gets older. All in all, it is a cute story with large pictures.
