Do the boy cubs not want Sister Bear around simply because she is a girl or is it that she is boastful about being better than the (older) cubs? Should Papa Bear force the boys to let Sister Bear in their club or is there a better way to handle this situation? These are just some of the issues covered in this good book."The Berenstain Bears No Girls Allowed" is not just about boys versus girls. It highlights that it is important to be a good winner and promotes resolving issues in a win-win manner (rather than ripping your adversary limb from limb). My son enjoyed this book. After reading it he said he was going to start a club for his boy friends and his girl friends. His sign would say "No Bullies Allowed".
We love ALL of the Berenstain Bear books, but this is one of our favorites. In this story, Sister Bear is a tag-along with Brother and his friends and they don't mind until she starts winning all of the games and is a boastful. They begin to exclude her and make a clubhouse in which girls are not allowed. She is upset and makes her own clubhouse for girls. The always wise Mama Bear explains that she might not have been excluded for being a girl, but because of how she acted when she won. Sister decides to include the boys and they reciprocate. Great book for the stage when boys and girls realize they are different and begin to exclude each other.
Brother and his friends get angry at Sister cause she shows off every time she wins at something. They build a fort far away in the woods. She finds out about it, but they won't let her inside nor any of her girls.Papa helps her build a girl only fort. Then a cook out is made and the boys from the boy fort come to eat.In the end they play together without restrictions.Further this book shows that being a sore winner is just as rotten as being a sore loser.
This is a classic story of how boys and girls are different. It teaches lessons of being a good winner and a good loser. It tells the story of no one liking a sore loser. It's inspiring because it demonstrates that little boys and little girls are not too different when it comes right down to it. I ordered this book from the seller at a steal of a price, got the copy of the book just a few days after ordering it, and the book is in great condition.
I absolutely loved this book because it good for children between the ages of 4-8, thats when girls and boys dont really like to hang out because they have "cooties". This book teaches boys and girls that its okay to play around each other. I understand that it does get very annoying when a younger sibiling follows you around, all the time!!! I liked it how after brother bear made his "No girls allowed club" how sister bear retaliated and made a club where she baked food and all the boys wanted to come and eat it, even though he wouldnt let her into his club she let him into hers. But after she let him into hers brother bear let sister bear and her friends come over to his club and took down the "No girls allowed sign" and said "Girls welcome"!! It was a great story.
We read all of the books. There are only a few we don't own. Out of all of them, this is my daughter's favorite. She has 2 big brothers so this resonates with her whenever they don't want their little sister tagging along.
I have owned this book for almost twenty years now and i still read it all the time...and im almost 25. The story is thoughtful and funny at the same time, and who didnt want a club house with a drawbridge as a kid...good for children and growups alike...five stars
No Girls Allowed by Jan and Stan BernsteinSister bear liked to play with her brother bears, their marble games. She's a lot faster runner and a climber. She even hits the baseball better. The father thinks it's a good thing she can do these things. When there were no boy cubs around shepicked flowers for her mother and did other things. The cubs were building a clubhouse and it's only for boys. The girls had an idea to make their own clubhouse-no boys allowed.Love how they get together at the end, it's not who you are, but how you play the game.I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).
