The Big Book of the Berenstain Bears(2007)I bought this for my nephew on the occasion of the birth of his little Brother. It has fiveBerenstain Bears stories in it including:The Berenstain Bears Go to the Doctor, The Berenstain Bears and the Messy Room, The Berestain Bears in the Dark, The Berenstain Bears and the Sitter, and The Berenstain Bears' New BabyThe Publisher recommends it for Ages 4-8I highly recommend this for fans of The Berenstain Bears as a "starter book", especially if you have a new baby in the house.Gunner September, 2010
My 2 1/2 year old grandaughter already has an interest in books and she absolutely loved this book. I looked in the book when she was finished and realized that thepictures vividly tell the story - she didn't even need anyone to read it to her- she quietly sat looking at the book for a long time. When I did read it to herthe words were sparse and well written - just perfect for her age.
My little boy likes most of these stories, but they aren't the very best of the Berenstain Bears stories. Not a bad introduction. We'd buy it again.
Its a great collection. If you're not familiar with the Berenstain Bears, let me be the first to tell you, you have just found your new favorite literary characters. The illustrations are so unique and precise. The stories are heartfelt, realistic and give good advice. I use these stories for a lot of the moral lessons for my children.
My daughter really loves this collection of books. She loves all the stories. I like most of the stories, except the "new baby" one, which was okay but didn't really have any examples that helped our daughter deal with a new baby. We cannot read the "afraid of the dark" story at bedtime because it seems to make her think more about being a afraid of the dark. We read it during the day use it as a springboard for discussion about the dark. Also, in this collection of stories, Papa is not protrayed as an oaf (though he does deny being sick in the "go to the doctor" story.) Overall, this is an excellent purchase, particularly for the price.
My kids love the Berenstain Bears and enjoy this collection of stories. The stories always teach a valuable "life lesson" that often gives opportunity for discussion. The stories are fun, colorful and easy to relate to.
As the reviewer who made the one star rated review said, I'll add to that as well.Growing up in the 1980's most (if not all) of us remember it being The Berenstein Bears (pronounced like beren-steeen), not this Berenstain, said like "Stain". The people who do actually swear it is BerenSTAin usually are younger than about 30 or didnt have the books in the 70's/80's but got them closer to late 90's. A HUGE amount of ppl ages 30+ absolutely will swear on their life they know it was Berenstein. Many even recall picturing papa bear with a beer stein in his hand which you would never do with the name ending in Stain. The Family stated their name and book titles never changed, which is true. Why is this important? It's not the only memory that appears to be "wrong" that these ppl all share.See mandela effect dot comSomething very very strange has happened or is happening that requires people pay attention and research this.PS if you find your old Berenstein Bears book in your moms Attic or basement that you Know will say stein, wrongo! It will have the stain ending. In the 80's theme song when they sing it, it's now Berenstain and sounds Soo weird!!
My daughter got another big book for The Berenstain Bears when the family has the little 3rd baby. I read it with my daughter & like the book a lot. That's why I search for more books of this bear family to buy. This one is cute too, it helps me to know from the 1st time when the family only has their first little cub :)My 2 year old daughter like to "read" the book herself too :)
