I ordered a set of these books from Scholastic (sorry !) for my 3rd grade reading groups. The childern LOVED reading this fun non-fiction text Who Would Win? Polar Bear vs. Grizzly Bear. This book is perfect for practicing predicting, conparing/contrasting, and parts of non-fiction text. The students were actively engaged, excited about what was to come, and wanted to reread it when we were finished! I highly recommend this book!
My 7 year old son LOVED these additions to his prior "Who Would Win" books--he learns so much & enjoys reading these on his own. I love how two species are compared, side by side--makes the Facts easy to remember & puts the information into perspective. (example--how BIG are these bears compared to a 7 year old boy!) We re-read all of the books, and compare the physical characteristics from other species, too. Awesome, cool series!
My 2 8 year olds (boy and girl) love these who would win books. They are not all of the same quality. Thus is one of their favorites.
I ordered this book to read to my first grade students, along with Lion Vs. Tiger (Who Would Win?). Both were excellent books to use for predicting outcomes, comparing/contrasting, and learning facts about animals. Both books created high interest, and the students were actively engaged as the facts unfolded. Suspense was high until the last page when we discovered which animal was most likely to win. My students have been asking where they can buy these books. I hope that more books in this series will be forthcoming.
My 8 year old girl loves these books! They've read many of them in school so I wanted to get her one to read at home. She's a picky reader and enjoys non-fiction the most. These books are great!
These books are so fun to read and packed with meaningful info on your favorite animals. Perfect for kindergarten ears and grade 1-2.
This was a Christmas gift sent directly to the grandchild. They got it as scheduled and loved it. Nice way to Christmas shop.
It helps me with the information literacy skills that I am working on with my students in my media center!
