We are using this book in my second grade class to teach about culture, compare/contrast, and opinion writing. The text is highly engaging, and the students easily made connections to both Malala and Iqbal. This quickly became a classroom favorite, and several students have reread it on their own.

amazing book. simply amazing.

I saw the first cut of this book at the Society of Illustrators in NYC in October. It is so beautifully written, yet heartbreakingly sad. But then again hopeful w/ Malala winning the Nobel Peace Prize. I bought for my 10 yr old neice as a Christmas present. B/c she knows that years earlier I worked in PK as an educator. And this books gives us something to talk about. Especially in light of both Malala's Nobel Prize and the recent tragedy in Peshawar.

Appropriate for intermediate with sensitivity to the cruelty of their situation. Global awareness and perspective are inherent.

Great book to demonstrate how children can have a positive impact on their world! :)
