My 5 year old son got this book for Christmas and we have read it every night since! It depicts the struggle for a young Turtle, Franklin, as he wants to learn to ride a two wheeler like his friends, the peer pressure involved and his overcoming his fears to finally accomplish his goal. Excellent story!

We really enjoyed this Franklin book. It shows kids that 1)never give up and 2)everybody struggles trying to learn something new. Franklin thinks his friends will make fun of him since he still has his training wheels on his bike. Franklin then remembers that his friends all had trouble learning new things as well. Franklin then devises an interesting way to learn to ride his bike. Its precious.

My kid loves Franklin - the books have simple, yet meaningful stories and are beautifully illustrated. For a toddler who is trying to lose his training wheels, it is great to have this story of "if Franklin can do it..." As for the book, there is enough detail in the illustration that we spend three-four times the amount of time it takes to read the story investigating, debating and talking what each of the other characters are doing. Absolutely great beddtime stories - the kid won't go to sleep without a Franklin tale now.

This book has been great for my 5 yr old son. He tends to get frustrated and give up pretty easily. The overall message of the book is "don't give up, not everything comes so easily."We have read this book about 20 times in the past 6 months. He often picks it out among the 100+ kids books that he has. It has really helped him understand that he has to practice things if he wants to be any good at them. As a parent, I would gently remind DS that most things take practice. However, I'm not sure he really listened to that advice until this book came along. LOL Now when he tries to do something he can't, he says, "I didn't get it this time, but my muscles are a little stronger and a little better for next time."Anyway, I would highly recommend this book for any child who gets frustrated easily or lacks stick-to-it-tive-ness.

Franklin is every young child's friend. They can instantly connect with the young turtle's sense of adventure and enjoy watching him work through familiar problems and solve them in his own way. All of them have been authored by Paulette Bourgeois and illustrated by Brenda Clark. They obviously made a wonderful team, since they have sold over 60 millions copies in over 30 languages. The stories are engaging and the pictures delightful. I love these books!!!

Another Great Franklin Book. My 3 year old loves for me to read him these stories.

My step son is 5 and he's starting to learn how to read...I'll read to him and he'll re-read what I jsut read. It's helping him learn words. The story is great and easy to follow!

This book is great for starting a discussion with first graders about setting goals. The kids love Franklin and can relate with his challenge of learning to ride a bike.
