My daughter is 21 months old and loves animals. She actually picked this book out herself. She's very curious. She loves to look at the pictures as I read it to her. It does have a very easy to self - read format for younger children who are starting to read on their own. It also teaches the children snakes aren't mean or to be feared they are just part of the diverse world of nature. It explains the nature of snakes and their life cycle in very clear and easy to understand language. She loves the book and wants me to read it again and again. The pictures are great and well detailed. It is a colorful Animal Planet type book.

Goodness me, but I am always thrilled when I can find a non-fiction educational text that will actually entertain students. I have noticed that this line of readers manage to churn out some truly great stories. Or information, in this case of science books like this. This is filled with brightly colored photographs that manage to hit many of the major groupings of our reptilian friends and the text talks about biology, physiology, and the impacts of snakes on the environment and vise versa. Not that I am making a strong effort to turn my class into a bunch of tree huggers, but this this really did get everyone's attention. It's great for a read-aloud, and many of my kids can read it on their own. And they do!

This is a nice book. I bought it to compliment our "fantastic frogs" scholastic level 2 reader and the level 2 "fly guy presents: bats" book. We like this "amazing snakes!" book, but feel like it isn't as cool and exciting to read as the other two books we already had. The other two have a lot more pictures and have a very fun and interesting layout.

It is age appropriate for my daughter, age 6, where it is easy to read, but is challenging her to grow in her reading. She also get to learn interesting facts about snakes. My daughter really enjoys it. It is worth getting.

My son wanted to learn about snakes, so I purchased this book for him. It is well written anfd illustrated. He pays attention when I read it to him. The book is a good length to be read before going to bed - not too long, not too short.

I purchased these for my daughter's birthday party last year and all the kids loved them. Buy a book to send home with the kids instead of a bunch of junk in a goody bag! Love the price too!

Good book, but given how much my son loves snakes i thought he would like this more...

My six year old grandson eagerly read this book. He is proud of his reading skills, but picky about what he wants to read. This book was a good choice, with lots of interesting information.
