Read Free Books and Download eBooks

Who could resist celebrating sea turtles? They may seem like lazy ocean reptiles drifting with the oceans’ currents, but they are actually long-distance swimmers that spend their entire lives searching for food and a mate. What’s more, they come with their own built-in GPS, returning to the exact beach where they were born to lay their own eggs. Kids will learn all about these tranquil and mysterious animals through brilliant photography and illustrations, plus the trusted and distinctive content you love from NG Kids!

This book gives general information about sea turtles, where and how they live, the different types of turtles, and why they are endangered. I confess, I didn't really think that I would learn anything new from this book, after all it is for beginning readers, but I did learn some cool new things. For example, the leatherback turtle is not only the biggest sea turtle species (up to 7 feet long), but it doesn't have a hard shell, just rubbery skin with small bones underneath. Here are some of the things that I loved about this book: The book starts with a riddle, a perfect way to introduce the book (you'll need to hide the cover to do this). There are fun riddles/jokes throughout the book (kids love riddles and jokes). The bright, clear illustrations match the text perfectly. The captions that identify the kind of turtle in each photograph. The glossary that defines key words and shows a picture to help the reader understand each term. A fill-in-the-blank paragraph at the end that helps students use the new vocabulary.I highly recommend this book and others in the series for students who love animals, jokes, and cool facts to share.

My 2 year old LOVES this entire series of Nat. Geo Readers... I have purchased about 25 different titles, "pre-readers" as well as Level 1 & 2 readers. She loves them all & will ask for certain ones. The "pre-readers" level books are extremely simple & great because she memorizes the words & can "read" it herself. We love the more advanced ones too, because there is more information to talk about. I have learned quite a few facts, myself!) What a great series. The price is reasonable & pictures are great. These are really getting her interested in nature, animals & science... I will continue to buy these as they are released, for our collection!

My kids love this series. The pictures, descriptions, and facts are concise and interesting. Never have I been disappointed by this set of books.

These books are fun for the little kiddos that are interested in facts about animals but can't read lengthy books. The pictures are great and the information is presented nicely for a kid to stay interested and informed.

Great book, lots of information and pictures are outstanding. Good value. I recommend this book for any age group. With national geographic books you can't go wrong.

National Geographic books are perfect for teaching little ones about the world. I have purchased all of them for my grand-daughter, and they never disappoint, highly recommended for children of all ages.

I bought a whole bunch of these for my granddaughter for Christmas. She just loves them - illustrations & pictures are beautiful, she enjoys reading them over & over! A definite for all animal loving children (& some adults too!)

I bought this for my 4 year old twin. First, I didn't expect a lot. But because the stunning pictures and interesting-but-short wording, my boys ask me to read again and again.I love every page -- great information that I (even 35 years old) have never known!.Example :Jellyfish are favorite food for many sea turtles. But plastic trash can look like jelly fish in the ocean, and that spell trouble! Swallowing trash can hurt and even kill sea turtles.
