I ordered this for my son who is in the process of potty training right now. It is a board book with a button that you can push on each page to make a flushing noise. It follows the second half of the potty training episode of Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood where he visits Music Man Stan's Music Shop and needs to go potty. It addresses the issue of using the restroom in public places so toddlers know that there are toilets everywhere they might go. I was hoping for something a bit more instructional for my two year old who has not mastered the potty yet and has some anxiety about using the toilet. He likes the flushing button but the sound quality was poor. He thought it was the sound of pee going into the toilet. Kids who love Daniel Tiger will like this book but parents looking for an instructional book to model potty time behavior should choose something else.
If I have to read this again today I might cry.Son is obsessed with this book.10/10 from him.3/10 from me.
How did we live before Daniel Tiger? It closely mirrors the same episode. We sing the song together, discuss places to use the potty, and even Daniel Tigers dad says to use the potty before you leave the house. (So it's not just me saying it). Thank you Mr. Rodgers for continuing the legacy!!Tiny room for improvement: The flush button is soft, but my son does not mind.
A must have for your potty training Daniel Tiger enthusiast. Fun to read while sitting on the potty. I also downloaded Daniel Tiger's potty song, and used Daniel Tiger reward stickers for each poo or pee on the potty. Daniel Tiger and timing helped my toddler potty train in just under a week.
My son wore this book out and now he is completely done potty training. Was it the result of reading this book? Who knows and who cares! It was great motivation to sit on the potty and it was something he could relate to being talked about by a character he loved which was exactly what I needed.
We introduced this to my son when he was 18 months along with a kid potty, not to start potty-training per se, but to get him used to what a potty was for. He loves it. He is already a big Daniel Tiger fan, so having a familiar character using the potty was very helpful. He regularly sits on the potty after a bath and reads this book with me, and he now (19 months) totally understands that he is doing what Daniel is doing, and he gets excited when he does pee while sitting there (as we make a big deal of it). He loves the flush button as well. I think he actually things the sound is the sound of Daniel going pee though, as he giggles when he flushes in a way that makes me think he doesn't think it's flushing ;) Very helpful book!
DS loves Daniel Tiger. Correction. He LOVES DT. Therefore, he loves this book. And he loves the flushing sound. Critical reviews about the sound of the flusher not being realistic enough or too quiet don't seem to resonate with me; I purchased the book merely to expose DS to the idea of using the potty and this does the trick. I didn't purchase it as a toddler instructions manual.
My son loves this book. I bought it to help with Potty training. This is his "reading material" and it stays in there. He loves to push the button and hear the flush. We love to sing "If you have to go potty stop and go right away" and this is how we are working on getting this Potty training started. The story line follows the plot of the episode of the same name. We love Daniel!
