I don't know why the reviews here are so negative - my son LOVES these little board books! They are for babies - like the other board brooks in the little library - not really for toddlers like the original books. My son is 7 months old and has been smiling at Llama Llama since he was a newborn. We love the illustrations! Very short, simple and sweet. Definitely recommend this series for early readers.
I want to like this, I do. I love the Llama Llama story books and the board books have been pretty good, too. This was just disappointing. The story lacks any sort of real story line. It's just blah. Not worth the money. :(
Dont' know why this got some poor reviews. There seem to be few truly unique, good, Christmas board books for tiny tots out there. (in contrast there are lots for Halloween....why is that?) This is right in line with Llama Llama I Love You and Llama Llama Easter Egg, both of which my 18 month old loves. So, if your child likes them i suspect he or she will like this. Yes she is beginning to move on to more complex books but still prefers the simpler board books so i am sure this will be a hit. I myself enjoyed it :)
That book was definitely NOT worth the money! I ADORE the Llama Llama series but that was five pages long. I feel robbed!
This board book is adorable. I take care of a now 14 month old little girl and she has Llama Llama Nighty Night, Llama Llama Wakey Wake, and Llama Llama Trick or Treat - I honestly enjoy reading every single one with her and she adores Llama Llama as well. I love the story line for this Christmas version - Llama delivers a gift to his friend and they exchange hugs (cute that the gift is a book), Llama becomes excited thinking of Santa and what 'Llama Santa' may bring, then he goes home with Mama Llama and they bake cookies together, decorate, leave Santa a snack, and mama carries little llama up for bed. The end of the book is llama coming down the stairs Christmas morning with delight. I think the book touches on great concepts of being excited for Santa, giving to others as well as receiving, plus Christmas activities little ones can relate to such as baking cookies. The rhymes make sense and flow great. I think some people may have been disappointed by how long the book is.. but it's just as long as any of the other llama BOARD books - Dewdey has longer books for an older crowd as well. (Try Llama Llama Holiday Drama)I recommend this book for any age, possibly up to 4 (I'm sure even a 5 year old would think it's cute) but it's definitely more suitable for the younger babies/toddlers whose attention spans aren't well - developed yet.
I bought this book from our school's book fair (I am an Elementary School Counselor) for my 1 1/2 yr. old son as part of our "New Christmas book every week leading up to Christmas" tradition and he absolutely LOVES it! The first night we read it, he made me read it twice and then went to sleep snuggling it and we have read it every night since then! He loves to repeat the words and point to the pictures. The key is to make it interactive by having him point out things in the pictures and adding sound effects such as the bells chiming or the caroling singing, I would definitely recommend it!
It's okay. Not a lot of words in this one - very simple story. My toddler wasn't overly interested in this one, neither was I. I would have given it a miss if I'd seen this first at a book store instead of buying online. Not like 'llama llama red pajama' - way less words.
Anna Dewdney's Llama Llama books are a fave around our house. We have all the seasonal ones, and my son loves to point to the llama on each page and say "LLAMA!" These books are a sweet, simple read with a rhyme that keeps my little guy interested. I appreciate that the illustrations are colorful and there aren't too many words on each page. The books themselves (we get the board books) are very sturdy and have lasted through MANY repeated readings!
