This book is too small. Who reads the dimensions of a workbook upon purchase? Everyone would assume this was a normal size 8.5 x 11 book but it's a mini book. Maybe it's good for kids unwilling to do the work because it looks like less work, because it's smaller. Not what I expected.
I thought this would be normal sized, like a normal sized workbook, but it's smaller. It is what it says it is, a beginners cursive book and I do think it does a good job at giving them practice with letter combinations/words to write. Wish it were bigger, for more room, but for the price, I am totally happy with this and hoping it will give my son enough start for him to transition into fully writing in cursive. The book progresses nicely, first letters and letter combinations and one word, then it goes to sentences, then it goes to picking your own things to write in cursive. 56 pages. My son never complains when having to do a page or two (i homeschool). Sometimes he'll do it without me even telling him. :)
Got a refund on this one!! It's a very small book with little room to practice and a few of the letters (Q, W, and maybe a few more) are not done in standard cursive lettering. I was going to start my granddaughter's cursive writing this summer so that she would be somewhat ahead when she started 3rd grade, but if she used this book, she'd only have to re-learn the correct way, so this would just be confusing. My niece is a elementary school teacher and the letters in this book are not the way that children are taught in public schools. It was just a waste!
My grandchild who is in the fourth grade has not been taught to cursive write. I find this book, BEGINNING CURSIVE HANDWRITING, to be the perfect tool to begin their journey in handwriting. It is well illustrated and easy to follow. I recommend this book.
Whoever thought one would have to home-school cursive to a public-school student? Oh, what's the world coming to? How can a person print everything? It seems so inefficient. But, of course, that has nothing to do with evaluating this little book. I ordered it and Handwriting: Cursive, Grades 2 - 4 (Brighter Child Workbooks) so my granddaughter could do some cursive practice at home since her school seems to think cursive unnecessary. This little book is cute, but I couldn't figure out why it is organized the way it is. The letters aren't all presented in alphabetical order and the upper-case letters and their lower-case counterparts are not together.I find this to have a confusing set-up. We'll be using this for practicing only after she has mastered the letters in the other practice book I mentioned, which has a far superior organization of letters, at least to my mind.
I love this little book. I was looking around all over on line for a good beginning cursive book for my daughter because cursive is not taught in school anymore here. This book is small and thin so when I first saw it I was a little disappointed...but I was wrong! Each day I had my daughter do two letters and after a few weeks she writes beautiful cursive and she has great form and her letters look like she has been writing in cursive for a long time! I have bought more books for her to practice but it you are looking for a good book to teach cursive for someone with no prior experience then this is the book for you. I would certainly buy it again and it is so cheap! You can't go wrong here.
Bought this for my 11-yr old daughter because she wanted to learn cursive. It says for grade 3 but really learning cursive is not a grade level thing any more. At her school, cursive is not taught because laptops are used instead. She was happy with the book and in the big picture has improved her handwriting all together.
Love it. My daughter thought it was adorable. She loves the fact that there is a place you can mark off each letter practiced. Yes the book is small, but there is enough practice on the page to be worth it. CUTE
