I nanny for a 2.5 year old boy 3 days a week. While eating lunch we do "Monkey Max". He loves the cards so much! I enjoy spending the time quizzing him, and he enjoys pointing out pictures or asking questions - great bonding time. There are a couple pictures that do seem a bit dated (for example, the overalls) but they are definitely a hit! I appreciated the wide variety of difficulty these cards present. For example, a picture of a clock (asking: what is this?), a picture of a daisy flower (asking: what kind of flower is this?) a picture of a bee and ladybug (asking: which one is black and red?).Some reviewers comment that you can do the same thing with a picture book, which may be true, but the repetitiveness of the same pictures/actions/settings is important for children of this age. We have gone through both decks three or four times, and each time he remembers something I had no clue we even talked about, and he is starting to apply it when we read other books, and even during playtime.I like it. He likes it. Best of all, his parents like it.As long as I am nannying for him, I will continue to buy the more advanced decks. I will probably buy the "Brain Quest for Threes" soon, as he is starting to master all of the cards in the current "My First Brain Quest" decks.I am also studying to be a teacher, and am interested in checking out "Brain Quest Presidents" and other grade-leveled cards.

My son has sensory processing disorder and has a language delay. I used these cards to help him increase his vocabulary and talk in sentences. The cards have different scenes where Max, the monkey, is doing something. For example, if there is a picture of Max in a car, I would ask: What is Max doing? And my son would respond: Sitting in the car. I would then prompt him to say it in a sentence: Max is sitting in the car. He's doing so well with speaking in sentences now.

I bought these for my 2 1/2 year old son. He recently was use to going to daycare but now I am staying at home with him. He has learned so much at daycare that I want to continue teaching him at home. Also he is very active and has a very short attention span. You may say that is normal for this age but he is more so than other children his age. He won't even sit down to watch any kind of TV. He's always on the move trying to take something a part, climb something or get into something he shouldn't. But he will sit down long enough to go through most of the cards in this deck! He loves talking about and looking at the activities that Max does on these cards. These cards provoke conversations vs drilling concepts with questions. As a former teacher, these are great at developing meaningful learning. I feel the concepts are very age appropriate.

This has been a huge hit with my 2 year old. I keep one of the books in my purse at all times and it has been very handy in moments where I need to help entertain her. These manage to hold my toddler's interest and they seem to be pretty sturdy. She has managed to destroy a few pages, but they were just instructional pages. This has been a great boredom buster and time killer for us and I can see us continuing to use them for quite some time.

This is a wonderful interactive "game" to play with my 27 month old. There is a nice mix of already familiar questions with new ones. I keep a stack in the car and another by the potty. As we go through potty training, this helps him stay calm and focused.

This is perfect for us right now with our son's speech therapy. It goes over everything we're working on in his classes and is a great at home guide so we can help him along. His therapist was excited to see it when we brought it in.

I'm not sure what I was expecting with this, but it's really just Q&A for toddlers, something that I could do with any story book, which would probably be more engaging than the subject of these flash cards.

I've used these quite a bit with my 2.5 year old. He really likes sitting down and having focused time together. I like being ablt to help him learn without going through the same books over and over again! There are a lot of pictures that I wouldn't think to discuss without these cards. A lot of it is basic, but even the basic ones always bring up something new. After a few months of using them, I'm happily surprised with how much he has already learned! They are also excellent for use in the car on long carrides to occupy children. I did quite a bit of research to find some new learning tools before settling on these cards and I would absolutely purchase these again, especially for the price!
