I like the pictures in this coloring book, and the paragraph summaries are very educational. My school aged grandchildren have learned a lot from this book and enjoy coloring in it with both crayons and colored pencils.I added a few pictures colored with Crayola water color pencils sold on .1. 27 illustrations (2 are 2pg) printed front and back of each page, of common animals and plants found in the woods, with informational write- ups about each. Printed on heavy weight, bright white paper. Pictures are very detailed.2. All markers and most gel pens will leach through the pages.Cons:Some of the illustrations are 1/4th to 1/2half dark vertical lines that show thru colored pencils, this was common with a few of Dover's early coloring books, and this is the reason for the 4 star. However, this is a favorite of my grandchildrens and every page gets colored. I purchased this coloring book for my 8 year old nephew. He loves to color but does not like the basic color books. This book is very detailed and offers children a challenge. In addition it has a lot of information about each scene, teaching children. Beautiful book.
This is an excellent coloring book for adults who like to color, it has fine detail, fine coloring detail. it is a great collectors item
I just purchased these Dover COloring Books for my mother and she loves them. The detail is out of this world and the variety of colors you can use are only limited by your inagination. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
my mother is an artist in visual arts, painting and drawing, mostly. She is very elderly now and is really upset with her ability as her tremors worsen. I buy her what I call adult level coloring books as a way for her to just practice her hand fills and such.As a side note I think she takes a little offense to it, but its pushing her to do her artwork more, so its all good, I'm glad I make these coloring book purchases for her, and will continue in the future too.
If your child enjoys animals, then he/she will enjoy this coloring book. It has realistic pictures of animals in their natural habitat. Also included at the bottom of each page is a desciption of flowers, insects, etc. seen in the background or foreground.
This is my 5th DOVER COLORING BOOK.this one isn'the quite what I had hoped for.The pictures to color do not cover the entire page. Yes there is a discrimination of the animals on each page and all about it's life in the woods, everything you might want to know about that particular animal on that page.The last page of this coloring book has an alphabetized common name as well as scientific name of each animal in the book.In my opinion they could have made these photos larger without losing the bottom text.As for the picture, some of the pictures are too darkened due to the detail of the picture, leaving very little left for the actual coloring.I don't feel that the younger coloring inthuseist would enjoy these pages.Other DOVER COLORING BOOK givesyou much better pages to color.Hope this helps,THANKS FOR READING, BYE
This A Walk In The Woods coloring book is quite detailed and is good for older children or adults that enjoy work with colored pencils. There is a wide variety of wildlife to enjoy and discriptive information about the flora and fauna on each page. It is challenging, and a delightful learning experience.
