I got my first dover coloring book about 30 years ago and have been hooked. I now have a collection of about 20. They are kind of hard to find in retail and when you do the selection is poor.I find coloring to be very relaxing when you are stressed. I also cannot just watch tv I like to be doing crochet or cross stitching, coloring.These books are very well done as far as the drawings are concerned. They can be very intricate. Some are made more for children but many would be hard for a child under say 10yrs old to do and feel good about.They are best done with colored pencils as you can get really good at shading and make them really pretty.I highly recommend this and many others. I do own this specific book.
This is more of a storybook. Coloring pages are few and scattered out throughout the story. Not what I was expecting.
I bought this for my 11 year old granddaughter. It's an okay coloring book, but I thought there would be more pictures and less text. There could have been many more pictures of the Secret Garden itself--before and after the children work on it. I think the book would be more appropriate for a younger child. She was a little disappointed, but she still colored most of it during her vacation with us.
My wife loves it, and brings back the methods of natural relaxation through simple creativity doing manual filling in. It's nice to see my wife come home streseed out, and unwind, doing these drawings and seeing her smile. Priceless experience for all concerned.d
This book is beautifully illustrated, but it is mostly a storybook and not as much of a coloring book. I am only rating it 3 stars because my copy arrived partially unbound; the bottom third doesn't have any glue on it, and the spine arrived completely unglued from all the pages. Great for what it is but very poorly made.
The drawings to color are very well done, detailed, and accurately portray the story. However, I did not realize the coloring book would have so many pages of words.....thought every page would be to color as in traditional coloring books. I doubt I'd have purchased it had I known. The person I bought it for names "The Secret Garden" her favorite childhood book.
I love the story and the pages to color are beautiful. Will be fun and relaxing to color. Haven't actually used it yet, waiting for a desk for my lap to color in my recliner. Can't wait to start!
I hadn't realize that this is the ENTIRE BOOK with a FEW illustrations. Very nicely done though, older edition.
