The designs are odd....but okay if you like that. Swirly, squiggles, somewhat looking through 3D ish. Several 'mandalas', although they didn't 'call to me'. One flower pot with flowers (my favorite one in the book). I have one other favorite that looks like a flower grassy garden. Otherwise, honestly, I don't feel like coloring most of it. Three pages in the book. So, not worth it to me. Guess I like to color more realistic scenes or less 'crazy' mandalas. That's just me. Attaching the two pictures that I did enjoy and did color (still working on the grassy one).Now....on to the paper....the paper is horrible and my book pages are not perforated. The designs are on one side. Fine. I put a piece of paper behind it just in case it bleeds through. I color with several things: Gelly Roll pens (bleeds through the paper sometimes if I have to go back in a white spot and the gel gets too thick, but doesn't bleed to sheet behind it, and it warps the paper), Tombow brush pens OR zigzag markers (bleeds through the paper pretty heavily but does not go to the sheet of paper I have behind it, but warps the paper bad), colored pencil (goes on smooth), and what I don't think would be good (crayons (too fat), pastels (smear), paint (will go through and warp bad)). So, my only recommendation would be colored pencils or gel pens with a very light touch.
I love Angie's books and I've reviewed this one on before. This is my favorite so far. Pages are blank on the back so you don't ruin any pictures with bleed through. It is awesome for markers ESPECIALLY the Ultra Fine Tips, ink and sharp pencils. A great many of the pictures have finer detail than most of her other books and I love it.The reason why I am writing a second review on this is because I wanted to let Angie know that I am dying for Volumes 2,3,4 .....!!!!!

Great pictures and I LOVE the fact there is one picture on a page (not double sided) and the pages are perforated so they are easier to rip out.
If you like to color fairly intricate drawings, or you prefer asymmetrical pictures, this book is for you. It truly challenges my need for pattern and symmetry, but it's fun. And the colorings really do make you say, "WOW!" when you're finished.
I love this book! I use markers, everything from regular crayola to copic, including effect pens like metallic and glitter, and none have bled through. The designs are great as well. I would have liked to see more symmetrical designs and less abstract ones, but that's just a personal preference. Over all this is one of my favorite coloring books I've found.
Not for the faint of heart. Maybe start on some bigger doodles. The coloring parts are small. With that said, I love it!!! It is a challenge. It is fun! It isn't leisurely doodling! Lol
