The Bronze Key is the third installment for The Magisterium series. It is a powerful addition to the series, and I had been waiting for it and purchased it on the day it came out. With that, keep in mind that this little review is from the point of view of a fan of the series. This book feels a tad shallow, to be honest. It's writing is light, just a bit too light, and only hints at deeper themes. That's also not a bad thing, because the intended audience is clearly a younger one; perhaps just a few years younger than a Harry Potter audience. It's also terribly short, though that might just be due to the fact that I read through it in one sitting, eating up each page excitedly. The story, however, is deliciously unique and deliciously interesting. Even as an adult, I find that I love it. This sequel has managed to continue that. A new, intriguing character is introduced-- Anastasia, a mysterious Assembly Mage who seems obsessed with white-- and current characters get more fleshed out. We learn more about Alex, are shocked by criminal acts, feel our trust betrayed, and ultimately follow the story, riveted, because it is interesting. So it's a good book. I won't go into too much depth, because who needs to read spoilers? But if you've read the first two, and you're fine with the writing being just a bit light (I would personally /love/ this series written with a lot more exposition and depth, but to each their own), then this book will be excellent for you. Particularly if you want to see a bit more of the dynamic for Callum and Aaron, who actually seem to interact more and better in this book than the previous ones.

I loved the first couple books in this series and I pre-ordered this one... The magic system and world building was great and I loved Call's struggle to determine if he was good or evil. However, I cannot give this book a 4 or 5 star review as much as I'd like to because my only reaction having finished the book is "seriously?!?!" This book was way too short and ended on way too much of a cliff hanger (though I guess since it was prophesied that I shouldn't be surprised.) Also I didn't like how a couple of characters just randomly became infatuated. It almost seemed like the authors didn't know what to do with them so just tied them up with a romance. So many things happened for no good reason. All the adults were completely incompetent. After a near death incident instead of checking out the situation they argue all night and let the kids get into trouble. It just wasn't believable for me. I hope the next book in the series is better but I'm kind of worried that there's no saving it...

The Bronze Key is the third book in the Magisterium series by Holly Black and Cassandra Clare. The action picks back up in this book shortly after the ending of the second as Call, Aaron and Tamara are beginning their third or bronze year at the Magisterium, a school that teaches a special few magic. This particular book in the series picks up the story with a death among the students and a spy on the loose threatening Call. The Magisterium series is meant for middle grade readers but as an adult I am still really enjoying the story in these books. The characters always seem a bit older and show more maturity than some young adult characters that you come across too which is nice all the while you do know their age and the actions have been age appropriate as they've grown over the series.Again as with the second book in this series I felt the authors did a great job in reminding readers of what had happened previously in the series rather quickly. It's been a year since reading the last book in this series so I went in hoping for a refresh and was quite impressed at how quickly within pages I felt they had caught me up enough to know just where it had left off.Overall, another great action packed installment in the Magisterium series. A few really shocking moments in here that again have me wishing for the next book right away.

I am a big fan of the magisterium series. I preordered this book a month before it came out, and finished before lunchtime. I thouroghly enjoyed this book, and will definitly be reading the next one. My main problem is the massive cliffhanger at the end. I will not spoil it for anyone, but I can say that the next beginning will be fast paced and will tie up a lot of loose ends, but leave a lot more hanging, and that will just be the start. This also means that I am going to have to wait another year before I can find out what happens. Other than that, I think that this is a worthy addition to the series, and I want to tell the authors that they are doing a fine job and to hurry up with The Silver _______ (I really like the idea of the title relating to the year Call is is, although this might not matter next book[hint, hint]).

I just came across this series by happenstance a couple of weeks ago and got lucky enough to have the 3rd books release come out this week. This book series is solid, not as in depth as Harry Potter, but I really enjoy the character of Call. The third book is well written and although I did guess well in advance some plot points, the last two major events in the book left me with a big -"woah" and I really want to see what happens. Now I have to wait a solid year for the 4th book to get released. Ugh!!!

This is a really good book series. The ending two main events of this book were shocking but I loved it. Lots of twists and turns to keep me reading. If you like fantasy and fiction you dont want to miss this series. It is sooo good! Can't wait for the next one.

Great book lots of twists and turns. The mystery is hard to uncover. As soon as you think you have it figured out the author introduces another twist. The characters are well defined and solid. Can't wait for book 4

I loved this book! At the end I liked how much of it pieced together but I don't think Aaron is dead, it just seems wrong to me that such a great character could be struck down in one fell swoop. But aside from that it was a very good book. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for her next book.
