I have loved Selina Fenech's fantasy art for awhile now. Love the color and the emotion. I bought her faerie coloring book last year and have been having fun coloring it so I bought this one. The uncolored pages are beautiful to look at. I especially am enamored with the close ups. I always have loved to color them as a kid in my Barbie coloring books. There are lots of them in here. I am an artist (you can see some of my art at http://soulstorage.deviantart.com/gallery/ ) and used techniques I use in my own drawings with many colors and lines. I was very inspired by the uncolored illustrations within. The paper is strong enough for me to be able to use glitter glue on top of my rather aggressive coloring with Prismacolor pencils. What is really cool is that there are 2 of each drawing to color. I have attached 2 pictures. One is the uncolored page and the other is my coloring of it. Make your own masterpiece :)
This coloring book is fantastic! I tend to get overwhelmed by coloring books that are ridiculously intricate, but not challenged enough with simpler coloring books. This coloring book is truly a happy medium. I love the fact that this coloring book includes two prints of all the pictures, allowing the colorer to make new choices on the same art....very smart. I could even see this being a great feature for a parent and child (or even friends) to color the same picture together. The art itself is beautiful and incredibly fun to color....I mean seriously, who doesn't want to color mystical mermaids with an Art Nouveau vibe? The pages are nice, but probably not thick enough to use marker or light watercolor without removing the page to avoid bleed through. I've only been using color pencils so far and the paper really grabs the pigment, unlike some coloring books I have that end up making the colors much too light. I'm really happy I decided to purchase and I've been coloring in it since I opened it. You're never too old to color! I'm 32 and I find it very meditative and creatively stimulating, especially when you want to do something creative but don't have the time or mindset to create something from scratch.I'd definitely repurchase in the future for myself or as a gift!
A good coloring book. My only two complaints are that the paper doesn't hold colors smoothly, and you get duplicate pictures. The duplicate pictures is just a slight disappointment. This was given to me as a gift, and I had seen how long it was, but not that there was 2 of each picture.However, having two does mean that you can do one while someone else does the other as sort of a comparison activity.
This book is literally amazing. I am buying another because I love it that much and want to color the same picture again and again :) love it!
This is such a beautiful coloring book. All of the images in the book are breathtaking, especially the one on the front cover. I'm a mother and I love the bond that image portrays between a mother and her child. I am a huge fan of mermaids, something about them is just magical and beautiful. Every single image in this coloring book is fun to color and looks just as beautiful uncolored as it does when you color it. There are duplicates of each image in this coloring book. I like that because I get to color one of them and let my kids color the other. I actually tore out one of the pictures of the mother mermaid and baby mermaid and put it in a picture frame. I hung it up in my sons nursery, it really is beautiful and adds such a nice touch to a nursery.
I just adore all of her coloring books, I have one of each. The mermaids are lovely and range from ethereal, cute, and quite sexy.
I love almost every picture in this book. I've only got 2 pages finished, but can't wait to get through the whole book! The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that the pages aren't perforated, which I prefer.
I love the art, some of the lines of the pictures are weird and it makes you wonder if a certain line if the mermaids body or hair because it may be covered by another object, but it makes you get creative! I used markers for my first and only completed picture and it bled through a little, I started another one with colored pencils and it looks ok but not real dark. I think it needs a solid surface to work to help with that, I was just coloring it in the book. I think I might try gel pens. I also wish the pages were perforated as it is hard to remove them from the book without ripping. It needs scissors.
