These little hardback books are mini versions of the originals, but they have exactly the same text and illustrations - and are way more toddler friendly! The stories are awesome - my 18 month old can't get enough. Theres lots of rhyming, and tons of 'factual information' rather than just a story - so i know hes going to love them for years to come. My 4 year old nephew is a great fan too - particularly of the very last page which is a summary of the key 'parts' of each machine!

I purchased this set after my son had wanted to have "Tough Trucks" read to him every night for two weeks straight.Different vehicles are introduced in these short books in rhyming meter but "star" the same familiar animals working with tractors, rockets and diggers. My son loves the page after the story that illustrates working parts and their names, like gravity boots, bow/stern of a boat, or blades/buckets on earth-moving machines, and points them out when we see them. With 10 books in the set, you can rotate them enough to get exposure to all and still maintain favorites for both you and your children.

When my son hit 18-months he became obsessed with anything that had wheels. Believe it or not, I found it hard to find a book that could pack enough cars into it to keep him engaged (exception being Richard Scarry's Cars and Trucks and Things that Go which is also dynamite). Then - voila - I found this series and he absolutely loves it. There are enough books so that we can cycle through it continuously, about 3 a night. The illustrations are gorgeous and the rhyming stories flow easily without being too basic. Plus, there is a page at the end of each book that has some definitions so it also is good for building vocabulary. I can't recommend this series enough!

This set of books is a really super deal. You get all the machine books by Tony Mitton/Ant Parker (about 8-10 books) for what it would cost to buy about two individually. The books are smaller in size than what you would get if you bought them individually, but that is actually a bonus - they are easier for small hands to manage. And the content is the same. These books are, hands down, my son's favorite. He continues to want to look at them after 2 years! (he is now four years old). The pictures are colorful and fun, the story is good and there is always a page at the end of the story that describes key features of the machine - so educational too! Great gift for birthday parties too.

OMG my boys love this collection. The books are simple, well illustrated and great for all kids at story time. I have read each book in the collection at least a few times and I actually enjoy them as well. So if you have a kid in your life that likes boats, cars, trucks, rockets, submarines, etc., get this collection and have some fun reading to them. The one very minor piece of feedback I have is, the final page where it has the parts of each boat, car, fire truck, whatever, each main item should be its own page. While there is great information in there, the type and picture are too small. That is the page my boys ignore completely. Somehow they just skip over it. It is not enough to take a star off, but if the authors make more, and I hope they do, I hope my feedback is listened to.

My son loved these books for years and years when they weren't available in the US and we could only buy them overseas. Now I am buying them for my nephew. Cute rhymes and adorable characters. Perfect for the 3-4 year old boy who is obsessed with vehicles.

I bought this set for my 3yo son after buying two books in the series individually. Turns out, he loved the two that I got and wanted more so I bought this set. The books are small but the size and hard cover make it easy to toss into his backpack to take in the car, grandma's house or leave on the floor (as he is prone to do) and not worry about damaging the cover like the two paper back books I got. The illustrations are colorful and focused on the storyline, the words rhyme well and are easy to follow. At the end of each book there is a recap of the important parts of the vehicles with its name, drawing and description to help your little one learn about the different parts of the submarine, rocket, digger, etc.The paper truck the books came in was instantly trashed so while it is a cute holder of the books, we ended up throwing it away and using our bookshelf to store the books.

My toddler doesn't like to sit still long enough to read a whole book and will try to turn ahead while you're reading but with these books he sits still and listens to the entire book and asks to read them again and again.
