Cute short story board book that's fun for the kiddos in the dark. The sentences on the pages don't glow, so you can't exactly read it in the dark and you have to manually "charge" each page by holding it up to a light source for 15-30 seconds, which is more cumbersome that you might think and the glow doesn't last all that long. But, it didn't cost very much and my toddler gets a kick out of seeing McQueen glow in the dark. Plus, it's a book that promotes more reading time together which is really what it's all about!
This is my four year old grandson's favorite book. His Mom reads it to him every night and he has all of the words memorized. The glow-in-the-dark factor is what makes this book so special. He loves Disney Pixar Cars and we find that reading this to him at night, and more than once per his request, helps him settle down to go to sleep. I highly recommend it.
We ordered this and the similar Monsters, Inc. Monster-Hide-And-Seek glow in the dark book (http://www..com/gp/product/0736430326) at the same time. The Cars book, while enjoyable, loses its luminosity within 10-12 seconds, while the Monsters, Inc. book lasts up to a minute in places. We can finish the next page and turn back a page in the Monsters book and still see faint glowing. The Cars book quickly fades as you're reading the page.Still a fun purchase, but it's a shame the quality control isn't a bit more consistent.FWIW, I let my three year old use a non-LED flashlight while reading to activate the glow. LED flashlights work better with charging the paint, but the pages are very reflective and it's easy for him to shine it directly in his eyes (discounting all the times he intentionally tries to shine it directly in his eyes).
This book is a thick cardboard page book that is great for kids who would otherwise tend to rip pages. My 1 year old son loves books but when he gets excited he tends to rip the pages. Also, the glow in the dark part is pretty cool
Story is very short, but my son likes having a glowing book when the lights go out. We charge it up by putting standing upright on a lamp.
My 2-year old son is Cars obsessed. This book isn't long, but it's cute and my son really enjoys it. The glow in the dark is a nice little gimmick, but since my son isn't a huge fan of the dark, he hasn't really gotten into that feature.
Not quite as good as I expected...but not bad either...just OK. I thought there might be a little more "substance" to the book. Of course it's for a very young audience, so wasn't expecting THAT much...but still a little disappointed.
Piece of BEEP book, to be honest. These are a few words per page, no story. The Glow in the Dark is useless because 1. you have to be in a dark room and then can't read the words... 2. you have to "charge" the glow in the dark on EACH page in order to see it (which makes sense but doesnt' work when you are trying to get a kid to sleep) 3. only a few pages 4. ripped off!
