This was such a joy to read. I just couldn't put the book down. I had no idea that Teddy Roosevelt had an affliction that he overcame, thanks in part to his ambitious father.Until I read this book, I had no idea that Teddy Roosevelt thrived on adventure or that he collected specimens of animals. It's amazing that he managed to survive all of his adventures like he did being as sick as he was. Everything the man did was to test his endurance if not make history as well. Now I understand his push for conserving the nation's natural resources. By the time he became president, there weren't many wild animals left or trees for that matter. At any rate, this book was fun to read, especially when Teddy Roosevelt climbed to the top of Mount Marcy before the death of McKinley. It really amazed me how much energy the man had. Probably from all those treks out west when he was a boy to hunt or whatever. The gym his father built was nothing like what he faced on his many sojourns out west and to Africa. It made me dizzy to read about all those campaign stops and speeches. At first, I thought this book a little slow when I read about his early life, but then it picked up when Teddy begin serving on various Civil Service jobs and eventually gaining the Vice-Presidency under McKinney and being elected to a second term as President afterward.I highly recommend this book.

Bought several Teddy Roosevelt books for my son's 5th grade research project. This was his favorite. It was well written with a lot of information that he could use. He told me it was the best out of the 4 or 5 I bought. I read part of it and it was easy to read and enough detail that you could really learn from it but not too hard for using for kids.

This is the author of the year for 4th graders in Yonkers Public schools. I purchased the book and have it on my kindle. I always found Teddy Roosevelt to be a favorite of mine. Having my daughter read or shared reading I find Teddy Roosevelt's life to be interesting. I think I would like to read more about him. It's an interesting book about Teddy having Asthma, his love for his father. His bird collection and countless other things that the book has brought to light. I think your children will enjoy this book.

An excellent chidren's biography of theodore roosevelt, which will be enjoyed by people of all ages.My only criticism is that the books title should be 'Bully for you, theodore roosevelt,' instead of 'Bully for you, teddy roosevelt,' a name which to him was anathema.

Never Give Up This is a great book. This is a unique autobiography about Theodore Roosevelt. Teddy Roosevelt had a great influence on America. Once there was a man named Theodore Roosevelt but people called his Teddy. He would always work hard for the things he wanted. He had done amazing things to get what he wanted. He wanted to do everything, so he studied birds, fought a war, wrote books and many other stuff. Also, he became the governor of New York, Vice President of The united states. Teddy Roosevelt was not an every day kind of man. He was so extraordinary that when people tried to describe him they gave him a large nickname.“A Cyclone”, was what buffalo bill called him. A relevant issue that the author points out is smoking. The other develops the characters, and he does a good job doing it. In the beginning Teddy is very immature, later on he gets smarter and more mature. The author did a good job conveying the theme. One of the themes the author conveys among the story is “Never Give Up.” He supported the theme “never give up”, by writing that Roosevelt worked hard to get the things he wanted. Like, crawl over a cactus to get a buffalo, climb up a sheer cliff to reach the summit, and march pass another regiment to get a battle, and he did much more. A lot of literary devices were used in the story, like , simile, metaphor, imagery, and symbolism. The book is structured excellently. There are great illustrations that show a part of the story. There is an illustration that I liked, it was when Teddy Roosevelt was riding on a horse, it was my favorite because it explains the passage perfectly. Again , this is a great book, when you finish reading this book you will feel like you can do anything, and should never give up.

What a great book! The author brought Theodore Roosevelt to life -- and filled my imagination as I read. She made him seem as big and exciting as I'm sure he was in real life, yet kept him real in the struggles he faced and the frustrations he felt. This book is perfect to fuel the imaginations of boys wild for adventure and give them the philosophy that circumstances and limitations are merely obstacles to face and conquer.

I'm only 10 and really liked reading the book, and recommend it for anyone who wants to learn about Theodore Roosevelt. And this book tells a story that feels like fiction but is nonfiction and is really great. I think you should read the book

My 10 year old son read this book when assigned to write a paper about Teddy Roosevelt. It is a great book for kids as it touches on some aspects of his life that are interesting and relevant to kids, not just the more commonly known aspects of his life. It is a quick read that kept his interest. I read the book with him and found it informative and factually accurate from what I could tell. It really brought this amazing man to life.
