What if timid Baby Lincoln broke free of her bossy sister and set off on an unexpected journey? Kate DiCamillo presents a touching new adventure set in Mercy Watson’s world.Baby Lincoln’s older sister, Eugenia, is very fond of telling Baby what to do, and Baby usually responds by saying "Yes, Sister." But one day Baby has had enough. She decides to depart on a Necessary Journey, even though she has never gone anywhere without Eugenia telling her what to take and where to go. And in fact Baby doesn’t knowwhere she is headed — only that she was entirely happy in the previous night’s dream, sitting aboard a train with a view of shooting stars. Who might Baby meet as she strikes out on her own, and what could she discover about herself? Will her impulsive adventure take her away from Eugenia for good?

Where Are You Going, Baby Lincoln is the tale of when Baby Lincoln had enough of her older sister telling her what to do and she decided to take a trip. Baby Lincoln's older sister, Eugenia, loves to tell her younger sister what she can or can't do until Baby Lincoln leaves to take a journey on a train. Her journey is filled with surprises and with new friends until she reaches the end of the line and discovers that even though family can be a pain sometimes, they will be there for you in the end! This was a quick read for me but I really liked it, I never heard of this series before but it is a really good series for younger kids. I thought the illustrations were pretty good for what the story was and the story-line could be used in a lesson to teach kids that even though you might be upset with someone, they will be there for you in the end. I haven't read a book by Kate DiCamillo in forever and found it to be what I loved as a kid, filled with fun and adventure!Thank You to Kate DiCamillo for writing this book that makes me want to go reread everything you ever wrote!!I received this book from the Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for a honest review.

A book like this is a combination of words and illustrations. I would give the text of this book five stars but I must give the illustrations 4 stars because they are in black and white. A large part of the appeal of this collaboration between DiCamillo and Chris van Dusen are the large bright often humorous illustrations. However in this book, the illustrations are small and in black and white. They are still very good but they lack the impact of those found in other books of this series such as Mercy Watson (6 Book Series). So if you have not already read/acquired the books of the original series, get those first before you go on to this and other spin-off books. That said, I think that all the Mercy Watson books are worth getting because they are most entertaining for children and even the smaller black and white illustrations are not such a disappointment that I would advise not getting the "Tales From Deckawoo Drive" spin off series.

I have not read the book yet, but I am VERY disappointed the illustrations aren't in color. The color illustrations are one of the reasons my kids love the Mercy Watson books. It's very hard for us to find chapter books for young kids in color. If the pictures are there, why not put them in color? I would gladly pay more for them..Edit: my daughter read all of the Mercy Watson books, and I just ordered all three of the tales from declaw oo drive books. Both children are begging for more in color Mercy books, my 7 yr old daughter would love it if Kate could write a Mercy Watson Origin Story....your books have really motivated my children to read more, they love all the characters (especially a fireman whom we lovingly call " baby bottom chin")Please don't stop writing these wonderful books. I'm placing an order for your Bink and Gollie now.

My five-year-old loved listening to this book, and my 9-year-old read it in one evening. From an adult's perspective, I even loved it! Gorgeous writing and character development, fantastic illustrations, and just plain fun to read. A must-read for fans of the Mercy Watson series! A+

Bought it because I have a nephew named Lincoln. By the team he can read the book, it may not matter to him that Baby Lincoln is a grown woman. :-)

Kate DiCamillo has done it again -- an interesting, fun story for kids. The illustrations are delightful.

Just received this book. The grandchildren , at 7 , have loved this series.

Another nice addition to the Deckawoo drive series. This one really hits the theme of learning things about yourself, which is a great one for kids. My daughter and I loved learning Baby's real name!
