The whole Curious George series has been a favorite of my kids. From very early on, we started reading them to them, and the older they got, the more there was to learn and understand from the books and the pictures. Some reviewers have complained that these are not the original Curious George books or that the plot is very repetitive. While these are not the originals, my kids do not seem to mind, and I don't think they are "worse" than the originals, just slightly different if at all.The plot is repetitive but that is because George is always getting into trouble so you have the same pattern--he gets curious, he does something naughty, something bad happens, then something good comes out of the bad event, and then everyone is happy and George is usually a hero. This does not bother me in the least. My kids find his adventures interesting and never get bored with that "plot." To them, it is funny and what makes Curious George funny. Sure, if this was an adult book then the repetition might be problematic but thankfully it is not an adult book! The illustrations are nice and detailed and provide a lot of material for my kids to look at while I read the story to them. The quality of the pages is good and it's nice that there is sometimes stickers or a little activity in the back, though truthfully my kids have never cared for them much.I like that there are many of these books because my kids become familiar with George and the concept of series, and can distinguish one book in the series from another and even have favorites.I really don't think you can go wrong with these books. I don't know many other kids that don't like these. They are a good investment!
My 3 year old daughter Katy loves the Curious George books. She particularly like this one and wants to read it almost every night. As an aside, the book has taught Katy about the presidents on Mt. Rushmore and she wants to go to South Dakota to see them!
I got this kindle book for my 4 year old daughter, so we could read on my e-reader/tablet. Every night we read two books before she goes to bed, and when we first got this book on the e-reader, she only wanted to read this book, and then she was ready for bed. She loved it so much, she only wanted to read "the George Book". Anything to put a smile on my daughters face.
Having recently attended the Balloon Fiesta in NM, the kids wanted to know more about hot air balloons. The story is cute and typical for this character, with a fairly unrealistic story line. The monkey is up to his usual antics and manages to go aloft in a balloon. Cute for about ages 6 or under.
Don't get me wrong i like the story but this tablet version stunk. The pictures were tiny. And there were two sets of words. I thought that this was an interactive book but there was no interaction at all.
We of course like the story. But not on a kindle version. The writing was to small and so were the pictures. The story was written again with larger words but was to distracting. It should be put on kindle like a regular book. Then it would be great.
Grandma & Papa travel to NY from Albuquerque to visit. There are always "suitcase surprises" for the grand kids. This book was one which was especially appropriate because of the HUGE Balloon Fiesta held each yr in ABQ.
I ordered several to use as a promotional item for our Kiwanis Indiana Balloon Fest. We stamped our name in the back of each book and gave them to children at our local library. We plan to order more. Great price for a great product!
