A delightfull retelling of the three little pigs story. Three little gators strike out on their own in an east Texas swamp. Their mother warns them to build strong houses that can protect them from Big-bottomed Boar, who likes to eat tasty, tender gators for his snack. Soon, First Gator builds himself a nice house out of rocks. Second Gator reckons rocks are too much work, so he builds his house with sticks. And Third Gator's house of sand is the easiest one to build! But soon Big-bottomed Boar shows up. With a bump, bump, bump of the fierce boar's rump, he knocks over Third Gator's house of sand. It doesn't take long for that rump to bump Second Gator's house of sticks. But he can't knock over Third Gator's house of stones, so he tries another way in - through the chimney! Guess what happens to the Boar's rump after that?!

Very clever book and good illustrations (kind of based on The Three Little Pigs). Child (3 years old) who received it as a gift simply loved it. My school librarian also read to classes of lst and 2nd graders. It was one of their favorite books.

I'm an elementary librarian and I read this "fractured fairy tale" to my kindergartners and 1st graders. Now I can't keep the book on the shelf. The kids are still asking for it 6 months later! That's the sign of an entertaining and fun book. Highly recommended.

I stumbled on this book while visiting family in Texas. I thought it was a blast to read it out loud to my 4year old son. Even though it is a retelling of a classic, reading it with a deep Texas drawl right after visiting the family is awesome to my son! I really hope this stays with him as fun memories of Texas.

This is a cute book and it fun to read it to little children when you are planning on reading a traditional version of the three little pigs. It is always interesting to see the comparisons that the children will make. I like the setting and some of the 'swamp information' that you will get from this book. I think it is just a good story for little people and they should enjoy it. I know that I enjoyed reading it and I am not so little any more.

This is a neat Southern version of the Three Little Bears. Our girls fell in love with this book when we borrowed it from our local library. Even though it has been a few months, they still talk about it. I believe I will get us a personal copy so we can always have it on hand!

There's just something about this story that the kids love! We originally borrowed this book from the library, and it became an all-time favorite. Our kids even made up an outdoor game based on this book. We've decided to make it a part of our permanent collection of books.

I chose this because it seemed like it would be a fun story. It turned out to be a pretty cool twist to the traditional three little pigs. It still has the same message that a little hard work pays off, but turns the story around a bit. I would recommend this to anyone who likes the Three Little Pigs story. My 4 year old loves it too!

I highly recommend this book, it is a good re-telling of the Three Little Pigs. I read it to my son's PreK 4 (4-5 year old) class this morning, they all loved it. All of the children engaged and it is fun and easy to perform (or read dramatically), it was so fun to watch their reactions! The references to Texas (and Texas phrases) are fun and interesting, plus my son liked looking up where the "East Texas Swamps" are. The illustrations are colorful and captivating to the children. Younger children will enjoy it very much too. Happy reading!
