This book is geared towards readers ages 6-10, but is fun to read even as an adult. It's a lot of fun to just look at the pictures (which stay true to Waldo-style) and search for the objects listed in the back. I still can't find some of the stuff...This little book is packed with "secret" history lessons for kids. I was perusing a whole stack of children's books, looking for the best to have on hand for a medieval history lesson (Page School). This one stood out with the most interesting pictures, writing, and basic historical accuracy (for the genre). It has little segments on the noble heirerarchy, chivalry, fighting and jousting, some different weapons (of course), castle life, how a page became a knight, and more.AND it has a big fold-out Where's Waldo poster in the back! The book is worth purchasing just for the poster. It has a poor little ram tied to the end of a battering ram, fish with pikes, a monk cooking on a stove, a film crew catching a whole battle scene, and of course the standard Waldo characters. If your lesson plan includes medieval history, if your kids are bored, if YOU want to get a simple, fun, refresh on medieval history, get this book. It's more than worth [it] for this slim paperback with full-color pages! If you're looking for some other great books with a lot more detail, try the Eyewitness series of books. For activities, get "Knights and Castles" by Hart and Mantell. There are also some great biographical books of period celebrities by Peter Vennema and Diane Stanley (Queen Elizabeth, Shakespeare, Michaelangelo, Joan of Arc, etc.)
I was expecting a Waldo-type book rather than a trivia book, but my grandson and his friends are enjoying the information.
I'm sure my Waldo and castle loving 6-year old son will love it, but it's just okay. The one large picture is a castle scene from a previous Waldo book, and I didn't check the overall dimensions of the book when I ordered it, but it is much smaller than I was expecting. Not a normal Waldo sized book.
Bookin good condition but the big activity sheet which should have been in an envelope on the inside back cover was missing. Not much of a book without it sadly.
