I just bought this book and love it. I am 30 and teaching myself to sew. This book includes easy to read and interpret illustrations and wording. It teaches sewing stitches by hand, embroidery, sewing on buttons, and sewing projects. The projects are cute, and it even shows how to make tassels and pom poms. This book is simple enough to teach anyone the basics of sewing. I highly recommend this book for any beginner!

My granddaughter wants to make doll clothes but doesn't live close enough for me to teach her. So, I purchased this book with its clear photographs, explanations, patterns, and directions. I added all the things she needs in a sewing basket with a variety of fabrics, buttons, and bows. It won't be the same experience as learning from her grandmother, but sometimes you need to find a good substitute teacher. This is a charming book and just what I was looking for. And, it might even help grandmothers teach a little better!

This is the most charming, useful sewing book for children and adults alike! The vintage illustrations are worth the price alone and the projects are adorable and easy to do...I will treasure it and use it to teach my daughter how to sew!

Our children's sewing instructor uses this book for her guide. This is a wonderful book. It covers all of the basic bases. When the student is done with this book they can sew most anything and many stitches. Thank you for such a good product!!

You simply must check out this series of books by Tina Davis. Love, love, love them! I would definitely recommend working through one book at a time for a fun, hands-on unit study in home arts. Each book is pure and simple enough for a child to use as a reference book on their own. However, adults will definitely want to join in on the fun. These books are fabulous on so many levels. First off, the bold graphics are fantastic and very nostalgic. Moms and grandmas will adore these book as they look at the wholesome, sweet images found on every page. Second, these books are really well written. Targeting an elementary age child, each book is filled with easy to follow directions and simple safety instructions. Third, each of these book contains journal pages which allow the child a chance to personalize the book as their own. Kids can add family recipes to the journal pages, write special notes about a sewing project or whatever else captures their imagination.

This is an excellent book for working with young children who are interested in sewing. All the basics of sewing are explained in simple terms and are well illustrated. I work with 8 year olds and they were delighted with the draw-string bag project. I will soon be doing the sock doll project with after I have them make the frog pin cushion. Children are eager to sew and do have the patience to learn to thread their own needles, make knots, and sew various types of stitches. They love the finished projects. This book will add a lot to my classes where I have taught embroidery and applique as well as simple sewing.

I have so many books but this one is the best by far. From the explanations, to the projects, the lovely pictures and cute cover. I will recommend this book to anyone, this book will make a great gift to any young girl. I just love it!

Love this book. The feel of the paper and the illustrations are divine. This is one that lived up to the reviews I read and I am so happy to have it.Even though it is a children's book it is a treasure to me and looks great displayed in my sewing room.Evokes feeling of a bygone era and brings back a lot of wonderful old memories spent in the sewing room with my mum and granny. You will love it too!!
