I highly recommend this gorgeous book for any child keen to learn to sew, or pick up great new and easy tips. My daughter is 12 and in the phase where she is constantly wanting to recreate her bedroom, so this book was perfect. The first project she tried in the book was the Hippy Dippy bed canopy, which is such a cute addition to her room, she enjoyed choosing the fabric, and was super easy with straight sewing, so excellent for boosting her confidence with the sewing machine. It is so refreshing to find a book that truly simplifies sewing, I even was able to get some reminder tips from the book, as my skills were a bit rusty. We think that we might both start on the Party Mouse Doorstop next, nice to do a project together.Thankyou to the author, you understand what projects appeal to children, to keep them keen and interested.

I purchased this book for my daughter last night and I have to admit I stayed up late reading the book cover to cover. I appreciated the positive advice the author gave for my most feared stage of life - the tween years! My daughter is entering into her own style, tastes, preferences and opinions and they are completely different than mine. This book offers creative ways in both craft and sewing projects that will help your daughter (and mom) not only accept these changes but to embrace them boldly. The book is filled with positivity and encouragement. Who doesn't want to foster their child's self-esteem? Just for this life lesson alone the book was worth the money! As for the sewing and craft projects, I was really inspired. My daughter, who is 8, was able to read and understand the directions. The items are not only adorable, but very usable. There are many tips on how and where to find the items and all are relatively inexpensive. My daughter read the book and seemed to understand the instructions without my help. The most wonderful part is that nothing seemed too time-consuming so I'm not worried about losing interest or an incomplete project with a lot of wasted money. When purchasing this book, please keep in mind the target demographics. My daughter is 8. It isn't filled with all sewing patterns, even though the author is a seamstress and instructor. This book appeals to children who are creative and crafty and offers suggestions and encouragement to your child with instructions that are easy to follow . Kids like options otherwise they get bored. My daughter and I are very excited to start working on some of these projects!

Great, do-able ideas for my kids of 12 and 10. They love all the fun ideas and are hard at work fixing up their rooms now!

Gave this as a Christmas gift to a 12 year old beginner seamstress. It looks very helpful and has a variety of projects.
