Ms Miller continues to make lovely paper dolls that are eminently cut-out-and-playable, Clean lines, smooth shapes, and simplified frou-frou all contribute to making paper dolls that both collectors and children can enjoy. I could see her dolls being used by young artists as inspiration for designing their own paper doll clothing, in much the same manner many young girls did in the golden age of paper dolls.
I liked these especially because there is a similar design feel and costuming comparing it to the movie, "Somewhere in Time" with Jane Seymore and Christopher Reeve. I love the costuming in both movie and paper doll book. Wonderful for setting ideas...
I've been buying Dover Publications paper dolls for years for my personal collection (I enjoy studying historical fashion & these are very well researched). I've also bought paper dolls for my daughters all through their growing up years - they enjoyed them as children, and continue to love them as adults. Reasonably priced. This book is a newer addtion to the collection. Beautiful Edwardian gowns. I've very particial to Tom Tierney's work, but this illustrator - Eileen Rudisill Miller - does fine work too. Nice thick glossy paper.
Ms. Miller, is a delightful artist and paints delightful paper dolls. Her attention to detail, her confidence in line and color makes this book (and her other titles) a pleasure to collect, to view and to cut and play. This set is reminiscent of the charming styles popularized by the time of "Titanic" and the early days of Downton Abbey.
Beautifully illustrated. Lots of costumes. I want to buy another. One to cut out and the other as a keepsake.
I collect paper dolls and also being a Downton Abbey fan I really enjoyed adding this to my collection.
The book has lovely dresses and nice dolls, however I thought it would be more on the characters in Downton Abbey.
The clothing in this book is just as beautiful as the clothing from the show. Can we get a book featuring the actual clothes as well? Nice artwork...
