Winner of the Children's Choice Book of the Year Award for grades 5-6Did you know fortune cookies aren't even found in China? Or that alligators don't actually live in the sewers of New York City? Want to prove it to your friends? This book gives kids the tools to break and bust wild and wacky myths from around the world. These myths reveal a broad range of historical and scientific truths that keep kids learning while interacting with their favorite fictional "facts."Chock full of colorful photographs and funny text, this book includes hundreds of fascinating facts and interesting tidbits that prove you can't believe everything you're told. Each busted myth also features an explanation of where it originated, which uncovers often surprising historical significance. So next time someone tells you that the average person accidentally ingests 8 spiders each year--don't tell them that if they believe that they are as dumb as an ox--because oxen are actually quite smart.

The "myths" are fascinating -- my students (2nd-grade through 5th-grade) love to read these books to each other. Only negative we've encountered is that each "myth" is presented as a question: "Is such-and-such-true?" But the answer is always "no," and many of my students object to that, saying that there's no real suspense here. A better book would mix false with true, so the kids can really try to guess.

My grandson loves these type of books, so he tells me this book is great. My only complaint is that living here in Texas the book was not put together well, and the rubber cement that was used didn't hold it together I had to rebind it.

My son loves this book so much that as soon as he got this, he wanted me to get the second and third one.I wish there were some facts that are not myth just to make it more fun.I know the title says "MYTHS BUSTED" but with only myths, the pattern gets boring after a while.

I really liked this book. My kids loved it as well. Would recommend it to all ages. Really Really great.

I gave this to my granddaughter and to my nieces and nephew. They all loved it. I read it myself and learned a lot of new facts.

Lots of fun was had during Christmas holiday with this book. Our 9.5 year old thoroughly enjoyed, but the spine broke apart.

Although we don't have kiddos, we ordered Myths Busted after it was selected as the Children's Choice Book Award of the Year. If there's anything I've learned from teaching kids, it's that they learn best when they don't realize they are learning. Although kids will know they are picking up important tidbits like not to follow the five second rule and not to kiss a dog, what they will not realize is that they are becoming critical thinkers as they ooh and ahh their way through this book. Looking forward to passing this along to the young minds in our lives!

I got 3 copies of this great NG Kids book. One for my son (7) how loves all NG books and the Almanac is his 'bible'. We talked about some of the facts in this book, and I really love it, as I also learn some fun facts while we explore myths as bed time story. One copy went to my son's classroom. His teacher was very excited about this addition to the library. And one copy we gave as a birthday gift to a my son's friend. We love it.
