I bought these for my youngest daughter who is a fan of Coco Chanel. She loved them. I thought they were creative and original.
My granddaughter doesn't like paper dolls anymore. I bought this, rather, to illustrate the fashions of Coco Chanel when I made her a Chanel-style suit (Butterick 5844) for her birthday. The illustrations are just gorgeous -- and glamorous, too. I combined this with a children's book about Chanel, Different Like Coco (Elizabeth Matthews, from ).
My daughter is graduating from college in December w/a Fashion Merchandising degree. She started a library of books for referencing designers...I just thought paperdolls would be different...These are really great...They give bios of the designers and the story behind the gowns...She is in love w/ Chanel.
Wonderful, amusing - way loads of fun; why didn't I find this 40 years ago!
If you collect paper dolls, you will enjoy this book. Mr. Tierney does a lot of research in preparation for each book. He is clever is developing the topic of each book and his attention to detail is impressive.
This is a beautifully illustrated nostalgic trek back in time to the history of Chanel fashions. It is fascinating.
My daughter and her friends love this paper dolls book. It looks great and really helps tell the story of what Coco Chanel's different fashions and tastes were like over the years and for various occasions.
I love these books! Love that there are so many representing the different major designers and fashion eras! Bought this Chanel one along with Yves Saint Laurent and Dior. They are so cute! Got them as props/party decorations for my mom's fashion-themed birthday in 2013. Stood them upright on the tables. These are mo small books! They are about the size of a magazine! which is cool. They look smaller online. Sadly, I didn't get to look inside the books too much which I really wanted to do to check out the fashion or the paper dolls. They were also a gift for my mom since she is a designer but she stored them away and now I don't know where they are to look at them. Still, she really liked them! Will have to check out the actual paper dolls another time.
