We've owned this CD for over 2 years now, and it gets a LOT of use. My 2.5 year old daughter goes to sleep to this music for every nap and each night. It's been a real hit in our house. I will agree that the "book" part is very lacking. The "book" is basically a plastic sleeve to store the CD. We only listen to the CD. Yes, the songs are Christian (contains many classic Christian children's songs, such as Jesus Loves Me, Deep and Wide, This Little Light of Mine, etc.), but they are soothing. If you are looking for a Christian lullaby CD, I recommend this one.
Jesus Loves Me-Lullabies For Babies which was created by Stephen Elkins and illustrated by Ellie Colton. The book is quite small in size, measures approximately 5.5 inches X 5 inches. The lullaby CD fits into a plastic sleeve on the back of the front cover-a bit awkward looking. The illustrations are nice but look somewhat ordinary. The end sheets which should be either white or with a design, actually have credits listed on the front end sheet and shockingly, on the back end sheets, they have 2 illustrations pasted on for the last song with lyrics typed on the end sheet!! It looks as if the songs & illustrations are crammed into this small book. The lyrics of the songs do not follow the songs exactly, they just give you the main verse. The songs are sung by a children's choir called the Wonder Kids Choir, which by the way is a part of the Wonder Workshop, of which the President is Stephen Elkins, the author of ths book. The quality & overall tonality of the music cd is average. The childrens' voices are nice. However, the songs that they sing on the CD do not qualify as "traditional lullabies"; basically they are Christian songs. I believe the title of this book is a bit misleading.
The title of "Lullabies For Baby: Book and CD" (Jesus Loves Me) is a bit deceiving to anyone that is looking to purchase an authentic "Lullaby" book and CD. This book and cd is very small and obviously made with poor quality paper and a plastic case that is glued to the back of the front cover, covering up important information to the reader. The actual music does not coincide with the book, which is a bit annoying, especially if a parent is singing along with the book. The music does not qualify as Lullaby Music, it is religious music. The book and cd just emanate a feeling of poor quality and that it was produced haphazardly.
My girls LOVE this book and CD. They are enraptured by the illustrations and enjoy singing along to the music. The drawings are very sweet and simple...I would recommend it to anyone wanting to teach their children Christian lullabies about Jesus.
