My daughter wanted me to tell Ms. Goldberg (she's 5) Thank you so very much Ms. Goldberg for the best books that we have read thus far. Please keep making this series, and we can't wait to see them on the big screen. Gave them (all 4) to my daughter for christmas of 2010, and we just finished the last of the 4 books in Feb 2011. They truly are just that good.
I just finished reading this book and got online to see if the next one was available for pre-order yet. My granddaughter loved them all and told me she hopes Ms. Goldberg does one for each girl and then a 'rainbow' colored book for all of them together. She also said she wished there was a movie or tv show about "her book friends". I love the fact that each one teaches a little moral lesson, the one in this book being that sometimes a kid is nasty to others (a bully) because they are unhappy at home. I highly recommend these books for kids from 4 on. They are especially good for read-a-loud time right before bed.
I bought all 4 of the ballerina books Whoopie Goldberg has written for my niece. They are all wonderful. We can't wait for the next one which is on order.
My daughter loved every last book. I hope more are written. Thye are all very touching stories we all can relate to. All of the girls are from different backgrounds(their home life) and they all have their own style. And they are all friends.
baby is 3 but it will be something proud and educational for her as she grows.....gotta love the Black Author showing up for the minority children. they need books abt them by them.
I love this book. My daughter picked it to read for a book report for school. I decided to read it just so that I could make sure that she did a thorough job. I love to read, but I didn't expect that I would enjoy it as much. I laugh out loud at the antics of the lead character - while as a adult feeling a little sorry for her. The story is a realistic look at a family and offers a moral that all young girls can relate to. I feel in love with Terrel and her friends. It was a good example of friend support and I'm glad my daughter chose it. I'm going to get the other books in the series....for my daughter, of course... (smile)
Love Love Love these books. My daughters and her friends appreciate the stories and the illustrations. They appreciate being able to see themselves in whats going on and being able to share their ideas like the little girls do in the book. Overall the books are great reads!
