Delightfully designed garments. I made the coat dress for my daughter in less than a day with quite a bit of starting and stopping. I wish all of these patterns were in one book for adult sizes as well. Buy this if you like to sew!
I really like the patterns in this book. They are professionally put together with full sleeves, not cut on the fold, proper yokes for pants and skirts and welt pockets! I'm very happy that this book includes finished measurements because a LOT of ease has been added.What I don't like about this book is that I have to add seam allowance to everything and that's a pain, especially after tracing out all the patterns, but it's worth it for the price and quality of the patterns.
Akko Mano , in my opinion, should not get her next book published by Roost Books. She is too good an author for them. The excellent line drawings and instructions in the book are rendered less effective by the publisher's not-so-excellent idea of sizing the book nearly an inch smaller in both length and width than similar Japanese sewing books on the market . The drawings are uncomfortably small and the font size tiny, and I am not even a senior citizen sewing for her grandchildren (imagine how difficult it will be for such a person to use this book ! ) . I would have rated this book at 5 stars for the author and 1 for the publisher , but since such an option does not exist, I'm going with the average of the two, 3 stars.
These items are beautifully designed for soft linen or cotton fabrics. I can't say enough about the "cuteness" factor here and the simplicity of construction. I have made 5 of the items so far and have been overjoyed with the fit and the finish of all 5. Akiko Mano...please design a book for 8 and up!
Love this book, it is easy to use and has easy to follow instructions. It comes with patterns for all the dresses and has detailed and easy to follow steps of how to use the patterns and cut. A great book for people starting out in sewing kids clothes.
I own many Japanese sewing books and this is my favorite. I wish to have the other kids pattern book by Akiko Mano in English.
Fun, easy to sew patterns. I wish the patterns weren't printed separately. I find it time consuming to trace the patterns, but that is just me wanting to complete the sewing process quickly.
