If you remember reading about when Laura and Mary Ingalls made their sister Carrie a button necklace and how excited they got, you're probably going to enjoy making some of the jewelry in this book. It's a lot of fun making a simple button necklace, but even more fun if you can make something really special and exciting like a friendship pin. Many of the tools and supplies you will need for these projects you may already have on hand, but there are several you may need to purchase such as Tacky Glue, 3D pain, polymer clay, elastic cord, and an assortment of beads. Some of the materials you can use are recycled or "green." In the front of the book is a list and pictures of everything you will need.Each craft gives you a list of specific supplies you will need. A step-by-step instructional, with accompanying full color photographs, shows you how to assembly your jewelry. Some of these projects, like the pin bracelet, are a bit more complicated and I noted that a bit of adult help may be needed. For example, whenever beads need to be baked in the oven, it is wise to have adult supervision. The crafts included in this book are Fuzzy Critter Pins, Button Bracelets, Safety Pin Jewelry (two projects), Fuzzy Felt Pins, Paper Beads, Washer Wear and Funky Clay Beads. The Pin Bracelets, needless to say, look fabulous!Any time you have some craft ideas on hand, you'll have some very busy youngsters. Some of these projects are relatively quick and easy, but others like the clay bead or pin projects can take some amount of time. When they are completed, expect to have some wonderful gifts to proudly wear. I do remember receiving similar gifts and the smile on a small face when I wore them was priceless. This book can be used by many children and would be one of those ideal books to have on a classroom, art class or library shelf!
