I have a problem. I like to do crafts but my crafts look like crap! My daughter LOVES to do crafts, but I'm too short on patience! My baby- well, he likes to get into the crafts we're doing and ruin them!So to be honest I was a bit worried when I got this book. I've just been avoiding crafts and the crazy that ensues when we try to do them. But my daughter wanted to do something so I pulled this book out (I knew I needed to review it anyway...). And boy, oh boy was I surprised! This is something we can do together that makes us feel like we're making something but it's simple enough we can do each project together without things getting too out of hand with the baby. And the things we make actually look good!We started with the first project and we just had to punch it out of the book, fold the edges that it says to fold and glue it together. VERY easy! And it's good enough to be a gift! I think we'll just stick a candle in there and it's ready to go! The next one we did was the star people. This one we punched each star person out and then my daughter (age 5) was able to stack them herself with the slits in the hands, hats and feet. It took only a few minutes and it's something that looks good enough to actually display for the holiday season! Now there are a few more difficult ones in there, like Santas sleigh, that have a lot more pieces and more steps to it, but everything is clearly laid out directions and we don't have to go to the store to actually buy supplies. All we've needed so far is just some glue!I definitely recommend this book if you need some simple craft projects to do. Another idea I had was it's something that would be great for older people who may not be able to do more difficult projects anymore. I've thought of buying one for the nursing home because I think the residents could definitely do some of the more simple projects.

Marilyn Scott-Waters is an amazing artist. Her work is intricate and detailed, but at its heart is elegant simplicity. The creativity of a bygone era. Her new 'The Toymaker's Christmas' is a wonderful book. It's filled with beautiful Christmas images that you or your children can easily assemble. Set up an entire holiday scene with an ice skating penguin, or make festive boxes to fill with your homemade goodies for friends and neighbors. And those are only 2 possibilities from this book. My 9yo daughter and I love everything Marilyn creates. Her projects are not complex, but the end results are simply outstanding. Gather the family 'round the kitchen table, put on some holiday music, and enjoy a new Christmas tradition together!

If you're looking for the perfect gift for someone special, to help them get ready for the holiday season, The Toymaker's Christmas is right at the top of the list. The beautifully designed and charming paper toys can be played with and used for decorations. Easy to punch out and assemble, these imaginative designs are especially appropriate for children and adults to create together. Clear some space at the kitchen table, heat up some cocoa and plan a cozy afternoon making toys with some lucky child!

The book is wonderful. With colorful toys to punch out and put together. The Toymaker site is the best with ideas for all kinds of paper toys and little boxes. I have used Marilyn's site many times to make toys for myself (I am a granny) and my grandkids but this is the first time I have purchased one of her books. You can bet I will now go looking on my for additional books. Thank you, "Miss Marilyn"

I've been enjoying the wonderful creative toys on Marilyn Scott-Waters' site for years. They are whimsical, imaginative and creative, and there is always something new to find - for free, by the way. So when I saw that The Toymaker's Christmas: Paper Toys You Can Make Yourself had come out, I snatched it up. I'd like to pretend that all this toy-makig is for children, but really, it's for me. It is so much fun!

.The Toymaker's Christmas: Paper Toys You Can Make YourselfMarilyn Scott-Waters is an amazingly talented and creative person. The detail and colors in her pictures are a feast for the eyes. Young and old alike will enjoy making the toys and treasures that are found in her books. I recommend this book highlyy for the young and the young at heart.

Outstanding quality. Colorful, inventive ideas produced on heavy cardstock. Beautiful artwork. I ordered an extra book and will use them with my 5 and 6 yr old grandchildren. We'll do one or two simple activities together this year and save the rest for the future. I have never seen a product like this anywhere else. I think it is a real find!

For the price on sale, this is an amazing paper craft book for the holidays! I bought many and gave them away as gifts and for my children to make as Christmas decorations. They love making these. The colors and pictures are very appealing. Our favorites are the pencil topper spinning ballerina, two Christmas boxes, and Countdown to Christmas. The nutcracker and snowman stand nicely. And the boxes you can use to put treats or little presents. The winter wonderland is fun to spin the penguin and move the gingerbread couple. The only downside is that when you pop out some of the paper toys, they easily rip the actually toy if you are not extra careful. And we have to use tape, as glue sticks and glue is not strong enough. I bet that Zots or double sided tape would work great.
