My nephew talked nonstop about this book over the Thanksgiving holiday. Seeing as how his birth is the week after Thanksgiving I told him it would be my gift to him. As far as I have heard he was over the moon to have gotten this one and the construction book one in the series.I have never seen my nephew sit still for longer than 3 minutes on a good day but these books cause him to lay down, completely enthralled for hours! A huge happy plus sign for me! I'm all for more books and less electronics most times.
The redstone book covers the basics and goes into depth with some complicated traps and some non-traps. I like how it explains the steps but some of the steps can be very complicated if you read it and do it minecraft carefully. Just make sure to read it carefully step by step without skipping or else you may find that your hard work trap does not function well.
These books are good for those just starting to play minecraft. I got this one so that I could understand the different mechanics of redstone better. It was helpful but anyone who has played the game for some time will quickly outgrow these books.
My 7 year old loves this book! He's new to Minecraft and loves to read anything on the subject. I love that it encourages reading and builds his literacy skills. Great buy for the Minecraft enthusiast!
These are great Gift Books. My Son Loved them. He did say he wasn't able to do some of the Buildings taught because he doesn't have the Updated XBox Version. He uses the iPad one. But overall he was entertained by them. He loved curling up and reading these when iPad time was over.
My kid picks out his bedtime story book, and more often than not it is this one. He has read it cover to cover several times. He tries to replicate the instructions from the book into his game. It's great for the minecraft obsessed kid. Gives him something to do when he's done with screens for the day.
I ordered this for my third grader after her school book fair sold out before she could get a copy. The reading is a bit challenging for her at times, but my understanding is the Redstone building/crafting is one of the more difficult elements to work with. She is able to follow the steps with a bit of help and has enjoyed perusing this book. The binding is of a library quality and the pages are printed on a heavy weight, semi-gloss paper. The overall quality is very good.
My son is a Minecraft addict. He LOVED receiving this book in his Easter Basket. He is seven and getting ready to go into second grade. The reading is a bit odd for me but that's probably because I have no idea what they are talking about. He loves it though!!!
