This was my choice after previewing several other books about Johnny Appleseed. I really liked it, and the children in my classloved it. We have done several activities using the book.
This cute biography of the American legend, Johnny Appleseed, comes to life in this illustrative children's book. The illustrations are quite visual and bright but just right for young readers. The language is fine for young readers who will learn a little bit about American history and the country's love affair with apple trees and apple pie as well.Thank God for the legend of Johnny Appleseed written here.
Johnny Appleseed by Jodie Shepherd is a great book to share with my class that tells of a man that planted apple seeds all over the United States based on a real person's life. It shows that trees grow from seed and seedlings turn into trees that have apples on them and for preschool children this shows a natural growing cycle that is easy for them to understand and we have done several activities based on the story. They enjoy the book and have learned about apple trees and seeds too. We also expand the activity by getting one each of every kind of apple in the grocery store and do an apple tasting activity that they love. All this learning and experiencing started with the story of Johnny Appleseed.
This book is beautifully illustrated and tells the story of Johnny Appleseed and how as just a young boy he loved the outdoors and grew into a legendary many by planting apple trees all across America. This sweet book is just 32 pages and is appropriate for ages 4-8 year; preschool to grade 3.
My great grandson loves this book. When he was in Mother's Day Out, he was read this book. He enjoyed it so much that he started tell the other kids the story about Johnny Appleseed.
This book is a simple, easy book for kids to understand who Johnny Appleseed was and what he did. I used it with 2nd graders and lower when I subbed at school.
My 4 1/2 yr old grandson loves this book. I bought it as an in between Halloween and Thanksgiving book, and it was perfect. And his parents approved!!
This book captivates my 4.5 year pld grandson. The illustrations are charming as well. It is a great bedtime book.
