Digitization is the biggest advance in the history of photography. While some seasoned photographers may still be wary of the filmless technique, unbiased children have easily found their way into the digital world. Children are excited by the instant gratification of capturing an image and immediately seeing the result. With today’s digital cameras, what used to be an expensive and disappointing process is now as easy as pie. Enthusiastic and confident children are able to handle digital cameras with remarkable skill. The instant feedback motivates them to continue exploring, and soon they are able to create small masterpieces full of inspiration and fantasy. Photography for Kids introduces children between the ages of 8 and 14 to the world of photography. Technical concepts—like how a digital camera actually works—are explained in a way that is easy for children to understand. The book emphasizes creativity and presents techniques for capturing exciting images.

This book is definately not what I expected; but in a good way I am glad for that. This is a book that most kids can 'read' and try to interpret for themselves. The author has a nice way of piquing the interest of its younger readers. While the book is weak in technical details (there are many other books for that)it is written in such a way that 'kids' can explore and create their own visions of what to expect from photography. For the last six months I have been teaching my nine year old grandaughter the art and technical techniques of digital photography. Although she has really grasped the technical side of the Canon 1DsII that I gave her, when I let her read this book she came to me with an entire list of 'projects' for US to try. That alone is reason enough to buy this book!

As a photography and art teacher I have to say that this book is not really an educational guide like one you would use to instruct with. It is more like an interest guide to give to a child and let them explore through hoping that their interest is piqued. I was buying this for a budding photographer, who is a 9 year old, and while it will be interesting for her to look through, it just doesn't give enough meat. Keep looking... there has to be more out there.

My daughter absolutely loves taking pictures, and they don't always turn out the way she would like them to. She understands the basics of our digital cameras, but she gets easily disappointed when things don't turn out right. While she has not read this book yet, I have read it and recommend it highly. I plan to share some of the ideas with her at a later time.I appreciated the easy way this book was written. Any child who is old enough to truly take pictures and read would have no problem comprehending the simple tips. The authors give a vast amount of examples to illustrate their points, and they give several viable recommendations. They even have a glossary in the back that describes all the photography terms that may not be so well-known.My only recommendation is that if you decide to get this book, you will want either and ebook with color or a physical copy of the book. Since all the examples I saw were in black and white, I didn't have a good grasp of the concepts the authors were trying to convey.I was sent a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review. I was not financially compensated, and all opinions are 100 percent mine.

Friends' child has 'emergency call' phone with limited ability to make phone calls. However, she is a natural 'shutter bug'. She likes to share her photo essays with my husband who is a professional photographer. This is a great book with lots of full page, glossy pics to inspire further photography points of view and explore her equipment's versatility.

I am a professional photographer and I needed a book that was easy to use as a guide for teaching kids how to take photos. It was lots of fun.

Great guide for kids, easy to follow and understand for even my 10 year old daughter. And the price is right

This is a review of the ebook version of Photography for Kids!: A Fun Guide to Digital Photography. Having been a teacher of young children and a lover of photographer, I was interested in what this book had to offer. It is written for 8 to14 year olds. After reading it, I thought it had some good information and nice pictures but I wasn't so sure how well it would go over with a child. It seemed too wordy for the younger kids and not enough eye-popping pictures to keep the attention of the 12-14 year olds.I asked my thirteen-year-old daughter to take a look at it. Between Tumbler, Facebook, and YouTube, she's on her laptop a lot these days. She also takes some pretty good pictures with her digital camera. She said she thought a book like this would be easier to read in hardback form but it didn't catch her attention anyway other than having some cool pictures. I know that's one kids opinion out of millions.I would recommend this for children 10 and under if a parent were to read one chapter at a time with the child, either in the digital or the hardback version and then have the child try the various things that are discussed, it could work. The chapter "Bring Your Camera for a Swim" had some fun ideas as did "Making Small Objects Look Bigger." But to hand it to a child who was interested in photography and say, "Read this," I'm not sure how far they'd get before they lost interest. Maybe a hardback version would be different as they could flip through the book and see pictures that interested them and then read about that particular photo process. In some cases an ebook format just doesn't work as well as the hardback version.

Enough pictures to entertain a child's visual mind, with plenty of information to capture the budding photographers imagination.Highly recommended for photographers of an intermediate level who are commencing a home study course in photography for their children.
