Max is a young boy who thinks of sports all of the time. He dreams about sports and includes sports in his artwork. Max's school has a sports competition against another school and his school wins. Max goes home as a champion and has wonderful dreams about winning at sports. This book comes from Great Britain. The illustrations appear to be watercolor and ink. They are colorful, fun and have enjoyable background details. This book is part of a project from Booktrust and nasen. They wish to encourage more books that include all children in their stories as well as embracing special needs children. Throughout the book you will see a boy in a wheel chair, a girl with an eye patch, and then later you realize that Max wears a hearing aid and uses an inhaler. You will also see people of all colors throughout the book. Yes! It's about time, I say, that books begin to reflect real children in the real world.Max is a day dreamer. He has a positive attitude. There are not a lot of words in this book, but you don't really need them because the pictures speak for themselves. This book would be especially wonderful for any children in your home who really love sports. Advertized for ages 4-8 which is just right. I am pleased to be the first to review this book and I look forward to seeing more inclusive books like this in the future.
