This is a cute book and it's fun to read because the wording flows well. The pictures are very cute as well. My 2 yr old grandson is not exactly captivated by it yet, but I suspect he will be in due time.
I purchased this book for my 15 month old grandson. From the very first read it was "Again!" for at least 15 times. We both laughed at the simple rhymed antics of two good friends. Two months later this book remains a favorite! This sweet book is exactly the kind of story with fun play, sound effects and even a potty break! LOVE IT!
Here is another really good book for little people. The illustrations are great. I love Peep and Ducky and do my little folks. The colors are nice and the wording is easy for beginning readers and for non-readers to memorize. It is just a really cute book and lots of fun to read to your little people.
We LOVE this book at my house. My 17 month old daughter sits through it and doesn't fidget or get distracted at all despite the fact that this is fairly long for a board book. The rhymes are great though some of them did take a couple of reads to get a good feel for them. The book is about Peep and Ducky's visit to the park and all the things they do (play cars, slide, play in a puddle/mud, sand box, play tag, eat lunch, etc). I have been reading this to my daughter since she was a newborn and there was a short period where my daughter didn't have the attention span to sit for the length of this book but it is definitely back to being one of the favorites for the past few months. Definitely recommend.
This book is really sweet and will appeal to young toddlers. I like that there is only a little text on each page, supported by illustrations, and the action is easy to follow. It details a fun day in the park with two friends. While they are together, they do have minor issues- such as fighting over a bucket, accidentally spilling juice, not wanting to go home at the end, but they resolve these very smoothly. The fact that it includes their troubles allows for some good talking points between a parent and child. The rhyme pattern is not very consistent- some pages it flows great, others it is a little awkward, but I don't think it detracts from the appeal of the book. One thing I wish they omitted was the page where they sit on potties side by side. Using a toilet next to someone else like that isn't very ideal or attractive to think about! Overall though, this is a good book. I look forward to reading the new one!
David Martin's Peep and Ducky is quick and adorable. It boasts easy, flowing rhymes that will have kids eager to read, and hear, over and over again. It's the rhyme scheme that I think will really appeal to children, especially those who are just learning to read. When read aloud, Peep and Ducky's adventure sounds so upbeat and exciting; it's bound to make the little ones smile! David Walker's illustrations work in harmony with Martin's story. The colorful pictures are simple enough for a child to grasp the concept of events, particularly important if the audience cannot read yet, and detailed enough for the older ones to appreciate. Ages at least 1-3 will enjoy the story, but I think it's one that will stick in a child's mind for a while longer.Whether Peep and Ducky are playing make believe, racing around and playing in the mud, Martin and Walker expertly portray fun and friendship; the promise of another perfect day.*Book provided via publisher in exchange for an honest review*
This book is light, happy, and tons of fun. The pages and characters are laid out in a bright, colorful and friendly way, and there is only a little text on each page, perfect for 1 to 3 year olds. My 2 1/2 year old boy LOVES this book, and asks for it every night as his last bedtime book. The story is about two friends who spend some time in a nice park, playing and mostly enjoying life. It touches on many great teaching pionts, but doesn't have a "lesson" vibe to it. Some books are written to teach children how to deal with a bad situation, and in turn, the book itself has a negative feeling about it. This book stays light and happy throughout, and the fun words and rhyming, along with the fun illustrations make my child smile.
I got this book for my 2 year old from the library and it was a huge hit. We read a ton of books and it's pretty rare when she finds one she picks out from all the rest. Rhymes are fun and I like how they have just one page involving a potty for when you are just starting to talk about potty training.
