We received our copy in the mail yesterday, and immediately read it cover to cover several times. The story is beautiful and sweet. The tone has a gentle flow, that I really loved. The artwork has a charm, that is endearing and makes you fall in love with these children and their animals. I can't imagine any other art with this story, it was perfectly paired. From the mother of children who might not always fit in, and never did herself, I appreciate the message of how friends treat each other. The overall message that ALL are welcome, is important and is portrayed in a loving, non sanctimonious way. This book has become an instant family favorite!

Lisa Mantchev has written a story for all ages brilliantly disguised as a young child's book. The pace and rhythm of the story and the vibrant illustrations instantly engage the youngest readers, while the important themes of friendship, inclusion, resilience and self-confidence are thoughtfully and imaginatively presented. This books gently invites discussion and observations between adults and children. It is sure to be the story that is requested time and time again, and one that adults and older readers will enjoy reading to younger ones over and over. Children will instantly learn the story and correct mistakes adults make. It deserves to be a children's classic. Buy it for your children, grandchildren and every preschool and kindergarten teacher you know. They will all thank you!

I bought this book for my niece. She loves elephant and this book was just perfect for her! The message of friendship and inclusion is very sweet! The illustration is so adorable and has lovely details.

A sweet tale of inclusiveness and acceptance. I purchased this book to give to my brother's children, who are still small. I looked it over, because I like the author's YA novels, and I fell in love with the story. I read it to my 15-year-old son, who told me to read it to him as a joke, and he loved it as much as I did. I'm keeping this for myself and buying a second copy as a gift. It may be for young children, but it has a message that can be appreciated by all ages.

Adorable! My 3 & 5 year old love this. The illustrations are to die for & it has a powerful message about acceptance. A must for your kid's bookshelf!

This is the most DARLING and wonderful book about kindness and inclusion and unconditional love. It made me cry in the best way. Buy this for every kid you know and the grownups you know who are kids at heart.

I was very excited to receive this story, it was purchased as a gift for my sons 7th bday. I waited (as hard as it was) to read it with him. The story is about outcasts to band together to make sure all are included. They hold no anger, no reaentment, they simply go out and band together and make a new group of friends where ALL are included. Such a sweet little story on friendship, and bravery. Not everyone has to be the same. Loved it. And my little boy loved it. He read it 3x that first day, and it's been read many more times since.Beautiful story, beautiful illustrations. Easy to read, easy for little readers to follow.

Sweet and funny and genuinely moving. My 2-1/2-year-old AND my seven-year-old were both intensely struck by it and wanted it read to them again and again, each of them reacting to it on different levels. Little kids will love it for the adorable elephant and sweet story; older kids who are struggling with fitting in themselves will find so much warmth and reassurance here. Our family loved it, and my seven-year-old now wants to start a pet club of his own - with, of course, ALL pets welcome!
