This exciting reader follows the story of the longest and the most demanding elephant migration on the planet. Living at the furthest corners of the hot and dry Sahara Desert, the very margins of where elephants can survive, hundreds of these great creatures make a dangerous but necessary journey as their main source of food and water dries up and they must go in search of more. Battling 120-degree heat, sandstorms, and fierce thunderstorms, these amazing animals travel 35 miles a day in a race against time in search of the bare essentials of life.National Geographic supports K-12 educators with ELA Common Core Resources.Visit www.natgeoed.org/commoncore for more information.

My 6 year old loves reading the Kids National Geographic books. He loves the photographic images and loves that he learns more about animals. At his age there is plenty of words that he can read alone and when he gets stuck on a word, we work on it! He really enjoys the jokes on the pages and loves retelling them to his brothers! We have almost all of the books and those are his go to books to read in the evenings for school. A must get for the early readers as these books are fun and interesting and informative all at the same time!

I bought this for my granddaughter who loves elephants. This book is wonderful - the pictures are amazing and the book is loaded with facts about elephants you would probably never find anywhere else. I enjoyed reading through the book and learned things I never knew about elephants. This would be a great book for children and adults. I was very satisfied with my purchase.

My boys enjoyed reading this for our unit study on the safari. The photos were amazing and the information included was in a way that captured their interest and didn't bore them. There are many jokes included throughout the book and my boys love to read them over and over and tell them to everyone we meet.

National Geographic books are perfect for teaching little ones about the world. I have purchased all of them for my grand-daughter, and they never disappoint, highly recommended for children of all ages.

Given to 5-year old niece as a present. She liked the other elephant book better, a picture book about elephants, at least upon opening the gift. Take note that she doesn't read yet. Her Mom reads to her, so I think this is a save-for-bedtime book.

for my Grandchildren, their mother says they love the stories, super great for all young ages, remember reading to your children will guarantee their success in later life. Even talking or singing will have a beneficial effect

You can't go wrong with National Geographic books for young minds. They're loaded with interesting facts and fun to read so kids don't realize they're learning as they go.

Good for text feature lesson. Easy to read and easy for kids to follow along with. Good set up throughout the book
